It could be that he doesn't care to dress up all that much to start with. Basketball is one sport where the coaches really dress up still, you don't see coaches on the football sideline wearing ties and fedoras anymore. The dressing standards for coaches are getting relaxed little by little. Bob Huggins - who Matta has claimed is a good friend of his - is obviously one of the most visible proponents of a more relaxed attire for college basketball coaches. I don't read much into the lack of tie. I would imagine it would be even better for Matta to just wear slippers to the game if his attire choice was related to his conditions. I'm sure Matta has people who could help him tie his tie if he needed that, I seriously doubt that his condition is the reason for this - he's had the same condition for several years but this is the first where he has gone tie-less.

My first thought when I saw this thread--the guy is just a small step above wearing a velvet robe and a pair of sandals on the sidelines. :lol:
