The Curse of the 2002 NC

Buckeyehead

Banned
Let me make this clear: I'm not a believer in "curses", but those who are probably would wonder about it all.

Since the 14-0 NC, Ohio State has had more than its share of off-the-field incidents, to say the least. Starting with the MoC fiasco all the way to Izzy's latest - and about a dozen other football player incidents in between - and now the demise of hoops coach Jim O'Brien.

Bummer...

Like it or not, justified or not, our national reputation has been sullied in the eyes of non-Buckeyes, and we shouldn't be surprised. We do it here about other schools, so take it to the bank they're trashing us. Can't blame them. There's been way too much going wrong in Columbus, lately, real and imagined.

These things add up, and the effects won't go away any time soon. It takes years to rebuild a reputation. Here's hoping the process won't be too painful.

This stuff has gotta stop...

I guess that it is all clumped together and one can assume that. Michiagn faced the severe charges and was under national scrutiny. It followed NBA players and restitution was made by some of them..Then it died down and they went on to win the NIT this past year.

OSU had the facilities and a new name coach that can recruit and will help matters but it will take a while for it to happen. Thank god we have a great football team and that we aren't a hoops school!

Honestly, since we won the NC in 2002 I have been sooo.......much more relaxed about everything concerning OSU football. I realize it might be another 10-20 years before we win another NC (hopefully not), but this one will tide me over for many years to come. If the last year of what happened is the price to pay for an NC, I say the NC was worth every bit of bad mojo it brought................

Utter BS, that is what I have to say. We had all of these problems and then some before the NC of 2002. Look at what Greg Simpson, Gerald Eaker (sp) and co. did in 96 or 97. Cooper had as many problems controlling his players as Tressel has. If we wouldn't have had these problems already, then maybe there could be something to this "curse" (I'm as superstitious as the next guy), but nothing has really changed.

It's not a curse, it's what happens when a team wins a National Title. People will do ANYTHING to tear you down.

And let's no make excuses, the things happened and its our fault. I talked to my ex-roomate who tried to convince me that this way all a conspiracy and I just laughed.
