*Here is the latest installment where we once again take a look at the players who have been offered by Ohio State. The players offered since the last blog will appear in bold print.*

Commitments:

Chris Wells: (6’2, 220/ Garfield HS, Akron OH)

Wells is the number one prospect in Ohio. As a Junior Wells racked up over 1900 yards rushing and scored 20 touchdowns. Wells was the first player Ohio State offered during his junior campaign. Wells grew up a Michigan fan. It figured to be a traditional recruiting battle for his services, but Wells fell in love with Ohio State at the annual Junior Day, and subsequently committed to the Buckeyes. Wells is believed to be the number one overall target for Ohio States recruiting season.

Ross Homan: (6’1, 230, 4.6/ Coldwater HS, Coldwater OH)

Plays for a smaller division school, but shows a true passion for the game and is playmaker. Homan was a First Team Division 4 All-State selection and was listed as a pre-season All-American by Street & Smith. He has size and speed. He is at a position of need. Ross was the second commitment in this class, committing shortly after his junior day visit.

Quarterback:

Tim Tebow: (6’3, 225 / Nease HS, Jacksonville FL)

Tim is an outstanding talent from the state of Florida. As a junior Tebow threw for 4,304 yards and rushed for 1,207. He also scored an astonishing 70 touchdowns. He was in Columbus for a visit when Ohio State matched up with Penn State. He comes from a very pro UF family, as his parents are both alumni. He has a strong arm and great scrambling ability. Considering Tebow’s talent if he shows an interest then there should be a spot for him in this class, as the early offer would indicate.

D’Vontrey Richardson (6’1, 200, 4.65 / Lees County HS, Leesburg GA)

Richardson is a very athletic quarterback. He could play multiple positions on the next level. He has the speed to be an effective receiver or running back, and shows the explosion needed to play safety position. Richardson is very dangerous with the ball in his hands and shows the ability to break a big play at any time whether it be with his arm or his feet. As a junior D’vontrey rushed for 1,130 yards and threw for 1,738 yards, while scoring a total 29 touchdowns. Richardson wants a shot at playing quarterback on the next level, and most schools recruiting him will try to accommodate his wishes.

On the cusp: Mike Hartline (OH), Miles Schlichter (OH), Sean Hakes (TX), Nate Davis (OH)

Runningback:

James Aldridge: (6’1, 215, 4.45/ Merrillville HS, Merrillville IN)

Aldridge is the former teammate of current Buckeye Nick Patterson. As a junior, James had 281 carries, 2,067 yards and 20 touchdowns. He also caught 11 passes for 190 yards and two scores. He was a first team All-State pick. Aldridge is a member of the Rivals pre-evaluation top 100. Aldridge has also been described as a vicious defender with great sideline to sideline mobility. The versatility of being able to excel on both sides of the ball, and having a strong early interest in Ohio State made this offer look like a no brainer.

Javarris James: (6’1, 199, 4.5/ Immokalee HS, Immokalee FL)

If you do not know it by now “Baby J” is the cousin of current Indianapolis Colts standout Edgerrin James. He helped to lead his team the state championship as a junior. He describes himself as a “tough runner” in the mold of an Eddie George. He also earned 1st team all-state and Student Sports Junior All-American honors this past season after rushing for 1,658 yards and 27 touchdowns. James is a member of the Rivals Pre-Evaluation top 100. He is the 16th rated prospect in Florida according to Sunshine Preps. It looks like Miami and USC will be the top contenders for James services, but he has also indicated an early interest in Ohio State.

C.J. Spiller (5’11, 190, 4.3/ Union County HS, Lake Butler FL)

Spiller will be a strong contender to be the top prospect in the Sunshine State. He has blazing speed posting 4.3 40 yard dash and a 10.4 100 meter dash. He also posted the fastest forty time at the Florida MSL combine one year ago. C.J. compiled 1,415 yards and 20 touchdowns as a Junior. James is a member of the Rivals pre-evaluation top 100. Spiller holds offers from Florida State, Florida, Ohio State, Nebraska, and Illinois. He was a Florida State fan, but the depth at his position may force him to display his talents elsewhere.

Lesean McCoy: (5’10, 195, 4.4/ Bishop Mcdevitt HS, Harrisburg PA)

McCoy was a USA Today top 10 juniors selection and was named the number 2 prospect in the nation by SchoolSports.com. Rival’s lists McCoy as the # 8 prospect in the nation. Named the Class 4A State Player of the Year in 2004, rushing for 2,828 yards and scoring 33 times. He is regarded as the #1 talent in PA. He will be recruited by all the big names.

On the cusp: Carlos Brown (GA), Knowshon Moreno (NJ), Anthony Elzy (OH)

Wide Receiver:

No known offers at this time:

On the cusp: Robbie Parris (OH), Wesley Lyons (PA), David Ausberry (CA), Carl Fisher (IL), Markeith Summers (MS), Troy Pascley (OH), Crawford Kilpatrick (GA)

Offensive Line:

Justin Boren: (6’4, 295, 5.0 / North HS, Pickerington OH)

Justin’s Father played for Michigan in the early eighties. Boren is a weight room monster putting up over 400 pounds on the bench press. He was offered during his junior season. Boren is rumored to be a slight OSU lean at this time, but it will certainly be a challenge to land this highly touted prospect away from that school up north.

Conner Smith: (6’5, 280/ Colerain HS, Cincinnati OH)

Smith played on the state championship team his junior season. His father, was a former player at Ohio State. Conner shows a nasty streak in his play that you can really admire in an offensive lineman. He absolutely dominated Antwon Hight, off the line in the championship game. Colerain is a pro Michigan school and it is another case of OSU vs. Michigan for the services of this prospect. Smith will look to make his decision before the start of his senior campaign.

Aaron Brown: (6’6, 255/ Princeton HS, Cincinnati OH)

Brown is the epitome of a scholar athlete. He is another very talented OL in what appears to be a very deep Ohio pool. Brown has been offered by virtually every big name in college football. He will make a serious run as the top rated offensive lineman in the nation. He is being shown the first class treatment, and is widely considered to be a heavy Buckeye lean. Brown was rumored to be a candidate to make an early decision, but will now look around a little before making his choice.

On the cusp: Mark Jackson (OH), Cody Faulkner (IN), D.J. Burris (OH), Ryan Palmer (OH), Sam Young (FL), Lee Tilley (OH),

Defensive Line:

Rob Rose: (6’4, 235, 4.7/ Glenville HS, Cleveland OH)

Rose is another in along line of Glenville Buckeye recruits. He is a versatile athlete who also plays basketball for the Tarblooders. He was a top performer at the junior AA combine. Rose turned in a 4.7 forty on a slow track and excelled at the drills. Rose will be a top 10 Ohio talent. He is reported as to wanting to stay close to home.

Micah Johnson: (6’2, 270, 4.7/ West Potomac HS, Ft. Campbell KY)

Micah is really becoming a hot commodity in the recruiting world. He possesses great speed for man of such girth. He plays running back and middle linebacker on the prep level, and wants a chance to at least compete for a spot at linebacker in college. As a Junior Johnson rushed for 1.249 yards and 17 touchdowns. He earned first-team all-state honors as a junior and was a first-team all-Western Kentucky Conference. He is a Member of the Rivals Pre-Evaluation 100. Clemson, Michigan, Kentucky, Louisville, Alabama, Tennessee, Maryland, Virginia, Georgia, and Michigan State have also offered. Johnson has indicated he is very interested at the possibility of attending Ohio State.

J.B. Walton (6’2, 270, 5.1/ Lackey HS, Indian Head MD)

Walton is a member of the Rivals pre-evaluation top 100. He is an athletic lineman that has also played some at tight end. He may be the top rated player in the state of Maryland. Walton currently has offers from Connecticut, Syracuse, Maryland, N.C. State, Georgia, Ohio State and Penn State. He has admitted that he is currently a Maryland lean.

Brandon Warren: (6’3 230 / Alcoa HS, Alcoa TN)

Warren is an outstanding talent, with the athletic ability to play tight end or defensive end on the collegiate level. He helped to lead his team to the state title in his junior year. Warren scored 7 touchdowns on offense while recording 8 sacks on defense. He is receiving offers from some big name programs, and it may prove difficult to pry this kid away from the southern schools.

On the cusp: Bill Nagy (OH), Tony Reed (OH), Jamie Cumbie (IL), Corey Peters (KY), Martin Channels (OH), Alex Stewart (OH), Darius Smith (OH), Ben Alexander (SC)

Linebacker:

Thaddeus Gibson. (6’3 207, 4.3/ Euclid HS, Euclid OH)

Gibson was named to the all-state team as a junior. He is regarded as a potential top 10 Ohio recruit. Gibson boasts great speed and claims a 4.3 forty a year ago at an LSU camp. He attends the same high school as current Buckeye Brandon smith. Max Emfinger has Thad rated #1 weak side linebacker in the nation. He has OSU on a high interest level.

Jeremiha Hunter: (6’2, 210, 4.5/ Manheim Central SHS, Manheim PA)

Hunter is the top linebacker recruit in PA. Jeremiha ran for 1,022 yards and 19 touchdowns as a junior, but projects as a linebacker on the next level. He was a Second-team Associated Press Class AAA All-State as a sophomore, first-team selection as a junior, first-team All-Conference selection. Hunter receives his first offer nearly a year ago at Michigan’s summer camp. Ohio State will have to overcome a Michigan lead to reel in Hunter.

Akeem Hebron: (6’2, 190, 4.45 / Good Counsel HS, Gaithersburg MD)

The offers are starting to roll in for Akeem. He is one of the best overall prospects in the state of Maryland, and has been described as a big time hitter. Akeem is a Rivals pre-evaluation top 100 prospect. As a junior Hebron racked up 95 tackles and 5 sacks. Despite the fact that Hebron has not been heavily talked about in the Ohio State “recruiting circles” the staff has been heavily recruiting him since early in his junior campaign.

Marcus Ball: (6’0, 200, 4.4 / Stephenson HS, Stone Mountain GA)

Marcus Ball is another two way standout. He excels on both sides of the ball and has indicated that Ohio State may be recruiting him for offense. Ball wants to play defense preferably at the safety position. As a defender Ball is scary fast, and shows the ability to make big sideline to sideline plays. As a junior Ball racked up 136 tackles an 8 sacks. Ball is currently rated as the number three overall prospect in the nation by Rivals. Ohio State has been mentioned by Ball since the very beginning of the recruiting process and he looks like he will serious consideration to playing his college ball in Columbus. Marcus is the Brother of current Georgia Tech quarterback Reggie Ball.

On the cusp: Tommy Becker (MN), Dorin Dickerson (PA), Emmanuel Cook (FL)

Defensive Back:

Darrin Walls: (6’1, 175, 4.4/ Woodland Hills HS, Pittsburgh PA)

Walls is one of the most highly touted defensive back prospects in the mid west. He was An all-conference selection his sophomore season. As a junior he was named first team all-conference and first team all-Class AAAA. He is teammates with current Buckeye recruit Wes Lyons, and is a former teammate of Devon Lyons. He has a close relationship with the Lyons brothers. Although he has connections with Ohio State he also has some strong connections with Michigan as they have built a strong relationship with Woodland Hills. Ohio State is the first big school to offer, and hopefully that will pull some weight with Walls.

Asher Allen: (5’11, 190, 4.4/ Tucker HS, Tucker GA)

Asher is a versatile athlete who could play on either side of the ball on the collegiate level. He had 407 yards and scored 6 touchdowns as a receiver. Allen had 81 tackles and 2 interceptions as a defensive back. He is speed demon, and looked very impressive returning kicks. As a defensive back he explodes on impact. Allen holds offers from LSU, Georgia, Georgia Tech, Illinois, Duke, Vanderbilt, Maryland and Ohio State. Sadly Georgia is a strong early favorite for Allen.

Kurt Coleman: (6’0, 190, 4.4 / Clayton Northmont HS, Northmont OH)

Coleman recently became the latest in state player to receive an offer from Ohio State. He is big time hitter who could play either safety or corner. As a junior Coleman racked up 10 interceptions while garnering first team all state honors. He has ties to the program and Ohio State currently leads for Coleman’s services. Kurt expects to make a decision before the start of the his senior season.

Jamar Hornsby: (6’4, 195, 4.45/ Sandalwood HS, Jacksonville FL)

Jamar is considered to be the top recruit in the Sunshine State. He is a teammate of current Buckeye Maurice Wells. He has great athleticism and leaping ability. He plays both ways in high school and could be a top rated safety or wide out recruit. He will be Ohio States main priority in the Sunshine State. As a junior Hornsby racked up 125 tackles and 5 interceptions. Coach Geis, Florida and Florida State will be the main competition in Ohio States battle to bring yet another Sandalwood star to Columbus.

Ray Small: (5’11, 190, 4.4/ Glenville HS, Cleveland OH)

The defensive back pipeline at Glenville continues? Small is a top 10 Ohio talent at cornerback. Small plays more of an athlete role for the Tarblooders, getting reps at most of the skilled positions. Small has shown a recent affinity for playing wide receiver in college. Ohio States main competition could be USC, as Small has shown an early interest in their program as well.

Myron Rolle: (6’3, 200, 4.49 / The Hun School/ Princeton NJ)

Could be the nations top player. He has a 4.0 grade point average. He won the Miami camp MVP award as a sophomore. Has had a solid offer from Oklahoma since early in his sophomore season. He will be recruited by all of the big name programs. He may currently favor Iowa or Oklahoma, but has mentioned the Buckeyes when discussing his favorites. It will be hard to land Myron as he has trimmed his list to five favorites: Oklahoma, Michigan, Miami, Florida, and Florida State. Rolle will keep fans guessing up until his commitment. Michigan and Oklahoma fans would argue that they indeed are the leaders, but I believe family ties will draw him to Miami

Antwine Perez: (6’2 197, 4.5/ Woodrow Wilson HS, Camden NJ)

Perez plays safety and QB in High School level, but figures to be a Safety on the next level. As a junior Perez connected on 103 of 198 passes for 1,763 yards and 15 touchdowns, as well as 52 rushes for 373 yards and 11 td's. On defense, he racked up 56 tackles and 4 interceptions. His cousin is Tennessee defensive lineman and former Buckeye recruit Turk McBride. The Volunteers are his leader, and that lead will be tough to overcome. Southern Cal has become another serious contender for Perez. He has all but eliminated Ohio State from consideration, as he seems to be focusing on USC, Tennessee, and North Carolina State.

On the cusp: D’ Andre McDaniel (FL), John Maddux (PA), Jovanni Chapel (OH),), Peris Edwards (OH), Cody Blevins (OH)
