Game Thread THE GAME, Sat 11/28 @ 12pm ET, ABC

Let's remember that as pathetic as we coached and played on Saturday we still only lost by 3 points on a last second FG against a top ten team. Let's also remember that one accurate pass to Braxton and we win the game. Let's also remember that Urban Meyer is our coach and that this is THE GAME. And lest we forget the most important fact of all: scUM sucks!

Oh on the point of being Urban Meyer, it's time for the offense to start looking like an Urban Meyer squad too. Stop being conservative and throw caution to the wind. Stop playing tight and just go have fun. Let the cards fall as they may.[/QUOTE]

Not sure which is the chicken and which is the egg, but the play calling and players have been playing tight all year. From the B1G championship game to the ducks they were loose and playing at a high level. Speaking for myself as a coach, I had one of the most talented teams I'll ever put on the field who played tight in our championship tourney last year. They went up big early and started to play tight and not to lose. They lost. I suspect that there's some of that going on -- on the sidelines and in the booth.

Totally agree, come out on Saturday... play loose and have fun. And knock the shit out of 'em.

You know what? Dom Tiberi does a really good impression of Earle Bruce. I just caught him doing it on the 10TV News. He was doing the line about when you beat Michigan you can walk down High St. but when you lose you take the back alleys. He nailed it. Very impressive.

What? Beating Michigan is everything. I could live for another million years, and we could take the next million games in a row from those [censored]s, and I'd still celebrate like hell if we won the next time we played them.
Hell yes! This game makes or breaks the season, no matter what our record is. I'd rather go 9-3 with a win over ttun, than 11-1 with a loss to those asshats.
F@CK. _ichigan.

The Buckeyes are not out of it yet. MSU is due for a let down against the Pedsters and the Bucks will own scUM. A dominant win over Iowa later and book your tix to the playoffs!!!

8th isn't a bad position right now.

Agreed! I remember years ago when we had the "Operation Chaos mode" thread for this very situation. Let's jump on board and see what happens! At least it'll make the end of the season interesting. Go bucks!

Instead of posting in the OSU vs. Sparty thread to bitch about everything once I finally had time to post, I decided to post this in here. Fuck *ichigan and everything that the whore up north in Ann Arbor represents. I just took a *ichigan and realized I took one. I will one-up what everyone in here said...I would rather be 1-11 with a win over *ichigan than 11-1 with a loss to them. Win at all costs.

In all likelihood we don't play in the conference championship and maybe play in the Capital One game..or in...I don't know what bowl games are even played outside the playoffs now to be honest. Who gives a shit. Our bowl game, our season, is beating that team up north.

Agreed. Beating ttun is the most important game of the season. Playoffs would be nice but the writing was on the wall all season that it even if we found a way to make them it would be hard to beat one playoff team let alone two with the way the offense was playing. Coaches really have to own that more than anyone. They were clearly us deluded as us that their half assed job of scheming and getting the same energy and attitude was going to cut it because we kept getting rewarded with wins and top 3 rankings despite the obvious deficits. Had plenty of time to turn it around and just went with more of the same.

Hopefully this was a wake-up call and not a back breaker. We can totally win this game of the coaches get the players ready mentally and tactically. A loss will be terrible but even a loss that comes from a hard fought and well executed will be respected from me. If they fold though i won't just be pissed but I will be really concerned for the program next year because it means the character that it takes to make a run next year will be tough to create and perhaps that Urban has lost some of his mojo or enthusiasm compared to the past years.

Saw this at 11W this morning.

If any millennial types are struggling to try and understand why older guys just don't get your sensitivity, read this and hopefully it illustrates the profound difference between the times we grew up in and today:

People forget Ohio State had a kick to win the game, and it fell to junior kicker Matt Frantz. Earle Bruce apparently told the team all week, with tears in his eyes, that nobody came into the Shoe and guaranteed victory.

Of course, the game came down to Frantz, 10-mph winds, a 45-year-old field goal... and Bo Schembechler's psychological warfare.

It did not end well for Frantz.

FRANTZ: Just before the timeout was over, I looked over and saw Bo Schembechler about three-quarters of the way out on the field. He was screaming, "Frantz, you little s---, you're going to miss this kick!" He was going nuts, and his coaches were trying to hold him back. [...]

After the game, I literally had to hide in a stall in the bathroom. When I finally got out of the locker room, it was like I was literally walking to the death chamber to go do media interviews. It was like a scene out of "Dead Man Walking." A tradition for my parents and me was going out for pizza after games. One of the restaurants changed its marquee to say: "Matt Frantz Does Not Eat Here."

The next year was brutal. At picture day the next summer, a kid came up to me and asked me for my autograph. His dad came up and asked him what he was doing. The guy told his kid, "Do you know who this is? This is the guy that made you cry last year. He lost the Michigan game." The kid scattered away.

Ah, the simpler times before Twitter ruined everything! Before petty people could download their life's failures onto college athletes!

Man, I love this. I don't know if they've made one for this year yet, but this one is awesome. I love the old Woody clip. I love how Meyer says "that team" with such obvious distaste. I love seeing the emotion. I love seeing the legends giving all they've got to beat ttun.

Watching this brings tears to my eyes, and makes me want to suit up and run through a wall.

Once again, It. Is. Time. GO BUCKS!!
