So, now that Mallett's in the SEC, he should be able to run the read option after all, yes?

Well he can now. See, when you go from a Big 10 school to an SEC school, your 40 time drops by at least half a second and it's been reported your time can drop as much as 1.5 seconds. So say he was a 5.0 at UM. He's anywhere between a 3.5 and a 4.5 in the 40 now, plenty fast

Yep. They time the players down there on special cornpone powered stopwatches that show their "true SEC speed". The transfer also has to learn to drawl for that to kick in, too. Or the yokels who root for his new team will swear he's still slow.

Well Mallett's already from that area, so he's got the drawl down, right down to the overall stupidity when he speaks! It's amazing

I'm glad to have him out of the Big 10. He may have been big and slow, but he was strong as an ox and had a hell of a live arm. The best news of the 07 season came when Chad Henne came back out of the Michigan dressing room and VILloyd put him back in The Game. Mallett had me scared that they might hit a few passes.

Give Lloyd credit for sticking with his kid come hell or high water. Henne had earned that chance and Lloyd gave him every bit of it.

Dispatch

Former Michigan quarterback Ryan Mallett's first day at Arkansas was apparently eventful, if not pleasant, the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette reported. He broke a sprinkler head in the closet while he was putting away a box and the water flooded the dorm with 4 inches of water. Mallett's father, Ben, told the paper that there was "a lot of gunk to clean up. All of Ryan's shoes got destroyed and all of his clothes are wet."
