Nike is releasing the shoe made as a prop for the "Back 2 the Future" second film. Shown in the movie here...

While the self-lacing system isn?t a reality just yet (although Nike is working on it), we will see a Nike Mag release date this year. The shoe, debuted by Michael J Fox?s protagonist in Back to the Future II, will feature a self-illuminating system, giving it the ability stay lit for up to five hours. In that and all other regards (except for the laces) it is an exact replica of the movie version.
To grab a pair though, you?re likely going to have to shell out some cash. The 2011 Nike Mag is limited to 1500 pairs, and will be available in allotments of 150 pairs per day on eBay, starting September 8th and ending September 18th. All proceeds will go to benefit the Michael J Fox Foundation, and in fact a generous matching program will effectively double the foundation?s donations. Tonight?s auction will begin at 8:30pm PST. And make sure to check out Michael J Fox tonight on Letterman, presumably talking about the shoe.

The MJFF is going to make a lot of money on this. I can see many of the 150 per day auctioning for over a grand a pair, and the winning bids will increase dramatically as they run out.

Didn't they already do this a couple of years back (minus the LED illumination)?

Edit:

Found it (Hyperdunk Supreme Mcfly). 'Inspired by' rather than exactly the same.

Good on Nike. That's not something I say often.
