Cleveland.com’s poll likes the Buckeyes. Is that a good thing, though?

If you’re unacquainted, the Big Ten doesn’t do a preseason media poll like most of the other conferences in college football. For each of the past six years, Cleveland.com, led by the inimitable Doug Lesmerises, have filled that void by commissioning one of their own.

Despite Michigan being the most heavily bet team to win the national championship in the country, Big Ten scribes like Urban Meyer’s young Ohio State Buckeyes to hold up the trophy when everything’s said and done in Indianapolis the first Saturday in December. The Bucks are expected to edge Michigan to win the East then prevail over last year’s West champions, Iowa.

While this would ordinarily be reason for excitement for OSU fans, to loosely paraphrase Ohio State grad R.L. Stein, readers beware: the Cleveland.com poll has never correctly predicted the Big Ten champions even one time in its six years of existence.

As Cavs fans found out this past summer though, all streaks are made to end eventually, right?
