The Polls (AP, Coaches, & CFP, etc.)

Speaking on Sunday morning’s SportsCenter, college football radio host Paul Finebaum said the committee should still consider the Buckeyes no matter what if they’re looking at the best teams in the country. Finebaum even said the Big Ten needs to do whatever they can to ensure the best team in the conference has a shot.

“I think they have to have an open mind,” Finebaum said about the College Football Playoff committee. “I mean the Big Ten shut down and then came back so they did a lot of this to themselves. I still don’t think Ohio State should be penalized if they don't get to the Big Ten championship game. They are the best team in the Big Ten and I don’t think there's much debate about that. I’ll leave it up to Kevin Warren and the Big Ten conference. They need to find a way to get them in. But if they don't, I'd lean heavily towards Ohio State right now. I like Ohio State a lot.”

If the Bucks go undefeated, say 5-0, get left out of the CFP and then they try to send OSU to a big, non-CFP bowl game, we'll have guys opting out left and right.

I wouldn't blame the players one bit. Adults who get paid a lot of money made this situation worse, not better, and none of them will be held to account for it.

Texas A&M are disqualified from the playoff by the CFPs own criteria imo.

In 2018 Ohio State went 11-1 and won the CCG. Their only loss was a 29 point ambush at Purdue. The committee and talking heads used it against OSU.
In 2020 A&M might go 9 or 10-1 but will not win CCG. Their only loss is a 28 point beat down vs Bama. Seems everyone is willing to give them a pass? BS

Interesting that the Bucks dropped a spot in the Coaches but have 1 first place vote still. Wonder who that was. I'm guessing Frost

It’s a leap year. Margin of defeat doesn’t matter like it did in 2017 and 2018.

Normally, I would detail here some of the criteria the CFP Selection Committee uses to rank the top 25 teams and choose the top four. However, nothing about 2020 is normal, and that includes the information available to the committee. Here is the entire list of criteria for 2020:
  • Eye test
  • Head-to-head record (if applicable)
  • Conference championship (if applicable)
That's it. No strength of schedule or relative offense or any other analytic because four conferences have statistically distanced themselves from the rest of college football by playing only conference games. For example, mathematically speaking, there is no way to compare teams from the SEC to teams from the Big Ten or any other league for that matter.

Purdue was 6-6 in 2018. Not exactly Alabama. The Committee is what it is but that's not really an apples-for-apples comparison.

The only thing that could keep the Bucks out of the CFP is Covid, thanks in part to the fucksticks running the B1G. A&M means nothing.

Aggy already started thumping their chest because of the CFPs idiotic comments...
