not to piss in anyones cheerios, but if he kicked one 80+ yarder, im SURE he counted the roll. and if he counted the roll on that I will go ahead and make an assumption that he did on the 60 yarders too. if you take away that roll those could very well just be 35+ yard punts. still not terrible, but not worth bragging over either.

Punting is a definite concern for us this year, ball control offense and the ability to punt from deep within our territory is what we have been using for the last two years. If punting becomes more of a liability than an asset, do you see Tress opening it up more trying to move the chains? One would think he doesn't have a choice if the punting becomes a problem. I guess time will tell......

Dude... if you piss in my cheerios again... its back in the Closet with you.

How many times have I said... MILK! in the cheerios... or beer...

Anyway... I see your point... but obviously the 84 yarder had roll... but even with Roll... 60's are good...

I'd say the issue isn't the roll... its hand time... sure its nice to be able to blast one out of the endzone and have to other team start on theri own ten... but we need consistency and 'accuracy'... And of course it would be noce to not have to punt as often... especially with the game close. (And no Blocks....... NO BLOCKS)

84 yd punts remind me of my one and only 300 yd drive in my life. Well actually, it was just my normal 225 that hit a cart path and took the mother of all lucky bounces, so I am gonna go out on a limb and say something along those lines took place for Mr Turano as well.

I'm sure it's easy for most college punters to punt that far when nobody is there to catch the ball.

I'm hoping that he is counting it from where the returner caught it. Punters rarely punt without anyone catching. Most of the time if you can punt one really long it can go over the returners head and roll for a while. I've also seen short line drive punts get by the returner and roll for a while. It would be nice if the 60's were actually in the air. I'll take 1 out of 5 being 30 yards as long as the other 4 out of 5 are 40-50 yard bombs. Pulling a 60+ yarder out of his ass every time he is backed up inside the 20 would win him some bonus points. I won't even say anything about being able to kill the ball inside the 20 like Sander could. Man were we spoiled.

I bet it went 500 yards or more.

I had a 340 yard drive once that I did bomb but it hit the path twice and ended up pin high. Unfortunatly it was 60 yards to the right of the hole. I also drove the green on a par 4 once then 3 putted for a par. :bonk:

The kid would not be so excited if he was not booming the ball. IMO Turano is pumped because of his practice performances. If he can put the ball inside the 20 and average 42-44 yards on all his other punts that will be excellent. In most cases heigth means more than distance. I hope hes kicking them high so nobody can get a return!!!!!

This will hopefully be a pleasant surprise to all of us bucknuts. Our return teams and punting are the only holes in our special teams. Hopefully these ?'s will be answered this weekend.
