The Red Sox Are Coming!!!! The Red Sox Are Coming!!!

Good question.

One of my uncles was a huge New England sports fan after spending some time in the area during his service in the Navy. He tried to turn me on to all the Boston teams but the only one I stuck with was the Red Sox. I also idolized Roger Clemens growing up.

I've never been to Fenway. I had a trip lined up to go in September but since I'm moving back to Ohio, I had to cancel.

Since you lived up there for awhile, did you ever go to Fenway?

sears: "Two big matchups up ahead next week with the Angels & Rangers coming to town."

Next week will go a long way into determining whether or not the Sox make the Playoffs. If they get pounded by one or both, the chances of making the Wild Card are slim.

Yeah, I've been to Fenway a couple times. Talk about cramped seating. It's not the nicest ballpark in the country either because of it's age but it has such history I hope they don't try to build a new stadium.

I think a new ballpark is inevitable. They're building a new Yankee Stadium, so a new Fenway can't be far behind.

It may be inevitable but I don't have to like it. I'm sure a new Wrigley Field will follow. Don't have to like that either and I've never been to Chicago.

Big market teams are finding the loophole in the collective bargaining agreement where teams must make revenue-sharing payments on all baseball revenue, but can deduct "the 'Stadium Operations Expenses' of each Club, as reported on an annual basis in the Club's FIQ [Financial Information Questionnaire]." (Article XXIV, Section a(5) of the 2002 collective bargaining agreement)

Here's a nice little article on it:
