The Walking Dead (Official Thread)

Sounds like they will explain Maggie's leave of absence in the time jump. My guess is she left and went with the people who were trading building plans with them because they were trying to recruit her before. I believe the plan is for Lauren Cohan to return next season or sometime after, obviously depending on her new shows success, but they have stated she WILL return to TWD. I'm guessing that they will try and stretch this out to like 14-15 seasons and have Rick return in the final season to end the show after the 3 movies are released. That, or the ending of the show will be in a movie where they reunite with Rick just so AMC can say "we told you he wouldn't be on the show ever again!"

As for the time jump - I agree that it was badly needed. I am honestly more intrigued with what's next than I have been in a long time. Hopefully as others have stated they don't screw up The Whisperers but I do like the casting choices so far (Ryan Hurst as Beta especially) so I have hope. I also like that Judith is wielding a little katana and revolver with the hat.

As for deaths, I believe a couple will get killed off either in the 2nd half of this season or beginning of Season 10. Carol and Daryl are safe though as they just inked an additional 3 years on TWD contracts.

I was surprised, but I actually liked the episode and I didn't have a problem with the way they got rid of Rick, especially as it also let them get rid of TrashGirl. Does anyone who's read the comic or pays more attention than I know who's in the helicopter and why? Were the trash people and their leader in the comic? I guess it truly is deus ex machina if there's not even a backstory or contextual rationale for it..

It’s likely the Commonwealth...I don’t read the comics, but apparently it’s a place Rick ends up eventually that you can’t leave once you are in. Sort of like an Atlantis kind of thing. The movies will supposedly tell that story.

I gotta say, it’s been so easy making fun of this shit show the last 3 years, because Gimp(le) running a TV show is like Tim Beck running an offense...but damned if Kang doesn’t have this back to being a quality drama.

+1.

She has done a remarkable job thus far in what I consider the best season they've had in a very long time. I can't wait for Ryan Hurst, as Beta, to debut.

Carol FTW

Carol is one of the few reasons I still watch the show...and that was about the most badass as she has been. Thought the last episode was actually really well done, I am watching with cautious optimism now. There are several dynamics I thought seem pretty interesting...some that are awful (see Rosita's new love interest and how they have botched Father Gabriel). But overall, a pretty good follow up.

is Gabriel any kind of interesting in the comics? I've hated that character since day one.

I don't follow the comics, but I thought he was interesting at times on the show. Now he is basically a throw-away character in my eyes...the whole half-blind priest losing his celibate ways angle is not interesting to me at all.
 that description pretty much sums it up. He was a complex character upon introduction. However, a good rule of thumb is, if a character has to get laid every second to matter, they probably aren’t that important. I am hoping they are doing away with one of them, or both, soon. Rosita, as scorching hot as she can be, has completely devolved into obscurity.

Rosita is pretty much good at being hot and nothing else for awhile now, agreed there. That is about the only reason I want to see her pop up now, because her character arc has gone to shit shortly after Abraham met Lucille. They can kill her and Gabriel off simultaneously...just never talk about them again and pretend nothing happened...I don't really care and I don't think any fans of the show do either.
