Great To See

.. the enthusiasm. No you're not wearing scarlet glasses.... this will be a helluva team. All those D-linemen rotated in and have some experience. Mike Kudla is a beast this year with a lot to prove. Look for a lot of double-teams there. David Patterson reminds me of Kenny Peterson, big, athletic and often unstoppable man-on-man... Cotton and Maupin are Patterson clones. Throw in Quinn Pitcock and you've got an impenetrable middle. I can't see the average lineman being able to handle this guy. All this and I haven't mentioned Simon Fraser who's in a world of his own and Jay Richardson who has all the coaches talking. Throw in 3 All-Amerca calibre linebackers and there's no reason this shouldn't develop into the best front seven EVER at Ohio State... and that my friends is where championships start. We did it by stuffing the run the past couple of years, but what I envision us actually getting better at is creating turnovers. Our defense is designed to force you to pass to beat us where it's more likely the opponent will make a mistake. I like knowing Underwood (remember Tressel's praise) is back there with Youboty and possibly Ginn in the wings and on nickle situations. Salley and Whitner are ball-hawking bit hitters. We should see a lot more turnovers in 2004.

We won the 2002 NC with a sometimes anemic offense. Same problem last year and we end up 4th. With a healthy Ross and Joe and a better RB supporting cast, a more athletic line, a more accurate quarterback (who hopefully makes decisions as well as CK) and real contribution from Bam Childress we will be SCARY good.

As I've said a few times on this forum - I think this is the beginning of a dynasty. Look at what we've got, what we have coming next year and the attitude and swagger of the Ohio State program. It's okay to be the best and know it!
