Sorry if this is old news, or simply common sense given the fewer home games, but I just got this in a email from Hangonsloopy.com when asking about tickets for the non conference games.

"Due to the decreased number of games and the high-ticket demand we do not anticipate on having public ticket sales for the upcoming football season. If any tickets would come available, they will not go onsale until 2-6 weeks before each individual game at www.hangonsloopy.com.<o:p>"

So it looks like I will need to try to scalp my tickets to Cinci.. Anyone have 2 they won't be using :)

Don't know where to get tickets this year, but everyone should be extra mindful this year when buying from a scalper or on e-bay because (simila to student tickets last year) all tickets will be scanned.

This means that you may have purchased a fake ticket or even an actual ticket printed by tOSU, but still get turned away because it was reported lost or stolen and that ticket's particular code was invalidated, so you'll never even get in the stadium. I saw it happen at a Bengals game and heard about it happening to a guy who bought 2 tickets for him and his son to go to a Reds opening day game @ $100 per ticket.
You will be able to buy a student ticket and use it (if you've got a son who's roommate isn't going so he and Dad want to go together for example), but when you try to enter and you don't have a student I.D. to go with your ticket you will be directed somewhere (not sure where) to "upgrade" the ticket to a general admision ticket, which means you'll be told o pay an extr $30 or so if you want to enter on that ticket (on top of whatever your son's roommate sold the seat to you for).

Just be aware of the potential mess you might be "buying" when you purchase from a scalper or on e-bay, etc.

And you might want to head to your seat extra early this year until the Red Coats get good at this scanner stuff.

Every year I hear the same story that they will stop allowing people in to the games with student ticekts w/o and id... hasn't happened in the past, BUT since I am planning on going to the first game, I think I should avoid student tickets as I don't want to find out the hard way... this may sound stupid, but what sections do I need to avoid then?

You'll know a student ticket when you see it.

South stands and closed end corners. If buying off e-bay, just ask if a student, probably not because they usually sell they whole season tix.

A ticket broker may be your best bet if you're concerned about gettng burned. Then again, you'll get burned money-wise from a broker.

If you're scalping tickets, you don't need to worry about buying a student ticket. They are very distinctive, and students are only given one "ticket" for the entire season. Each game is marked on this ticket, and the ushers punch out the game when you go in so that you cannot leave and re-enter. If a student sells their ticket, they will be unable to attend any game, because they will no longer have their "ticket" to any of the games.

I also have heard that you need to have a student ID accompanying a student ticket for the last several years, but I have never needed when using a student ticket. I have friends that have student tickets, and in 2002 I purchased the season ticket from a friend's roommate, and never once was questioned. They may be changing their procedures, but in my opinion, they have cried "wolf" too many times. If you have a student ticket, and the usher gives you grief when attempting to enter, simple leave and walk to the next gate. The next usher will more than likely allow you to enter.

That is also what I have been told by many students. I got a student ticket for free this season (wedding gift), and am looking foward to using it. I just have a hard time seeing them really weed out non students when they are trying to admit over 100 thousand fans. Just my 2 cents.

    Just to clarify:

It's not just the fact of wether one ticket taker gives you grief over a student vs. another letting you in. All tickets will get scanned this year.

If you get your ticket from a scalper or off e-bay it isn't a problem necessarily that you may have purchased a student ticket or not. You may have bought a "real" general admision "public" ticket, but one that has been invalidated because it was reported lost or stolen by the original owner.

If the bar code doesn't register as a valid ticket, then you're screwed. Any ticket, if you're not positive where it came from, then you're taking a chance whether you'll get in or whether you just spent $60, $80, etc. dollars for nothing.

    Daddy,

I was told that you will be redirected to another gate and told you owe an additional $30 dollars (whatever the difference is between a student ticket general public)

In all honesty that still is a good deal in my book.
