I’M SENSING A THEME ON ROCKY TOP

Ohio State also offered a scholarship on Saturday afternoon to Memphis Christian Brothers four-star offensive tackle/defensive end Bill Norton.

“It was definitely the offer I was looking for,” Norton told Eleven Warriors. “I have been working to get one from them ever since I went to their camp this summer.”

“I love how all the coaches tried to get players better fundamentally,” he said, mentioning the aforementioned Johnson’s instruction specifically. The aforementioned Alford and executive director for football relations Tim Hinton have made a significant impact on Norton’s recruitment in the months since, as well, and invited him to attend Saturday’s game.

“They are actually taking the time to get to know me and talk to me about things other than just football,” Norton said. “[The game] was awesome. Loved the energy of it.”

MIGHT AS WELL PUT A SATELLITE CAMPUS IN NASHVILLE

Four-star cornerback Woodi Washington had a significant impact on Blackman's aforementioned loss to Oakland, as he intercepted a pair of fourth-quarter passes to seal the game. Ohio State offered him a scholarship shortly thereafter and he made his first trip to campus for Saturday's 62-14 win over Maryland.

“The atmosphere and the way the coaches coach up the players [stood out],” Washington told Eleven Warriors. “Also, the intensity of the players on the field.”

Washington — who made the trip to Columbus with four-star defensive end Ani Izuchukwu and four-star wide receiver Lance Wilhoite — spent a considerable amount of time on Saturday afternoon with head coach Urban Meyer, assistant coordinator Kerry Coombs and running backs coach/area recruiter Tony Alford. It made him feel like a real priority for the staff.

“It's amazing [and] very exciting because they are a top program,” Washington said.

As anyone who's getting a lot of newfound interest, Washington is just interested in building upon those relationships moving forward. As things stand right now, though, the Buckeyes are in a great spot.

“Ohio State is one of my top schools,” he said.

I have this kid in the class in pencil right now. Very early and they probably want to see him camp again this summer work out at OL. But I like where OSU sits with Norton, Devontae Dobbs, John Olmestead, Logan Brown, Michael Tarquin, Zeke Correll, Darnell Wright, Quinn Carroll, etc. to go along with Doug Nester. Not that OSU is the outright leader for all of those guys but I think OSU sits in the top group for all of them. The staff should have no problem adding 4-5 top tier OL next year with 2-3 being tackles. And Norton strikes me as a future tackle prospect who you can take a flyer on based on his size and athleticism.

First thing that stands out in his film is that Norton is a BIG dude. Like BIG big. Looks like a OL/DT playing DE and just crushing kids. Athletic and dancing-bear nimble. Could see him playing SDE, OT, TE, or perhaps DT. I love thinking what Coach Mick could do for him. If he becomes a weight room monster and gets his speed/quickness up, the sky's the limit for him, IMHO

(BTW Mods: Doing a search, I found 2 official threads on Bill Norton that could be merged together)
