Trey Smith (OL Tennessee Volunteers)

Supposedly some of Trey Smith's family have been telling people he's going to the Buckeyes.

Supposedly.

This one is getting interesting, we just need Urban to drop some ju ju on it during the in-home Monday.

4 crystal balls have turned away from Tennessee in the last 40 hours. Andrew Ellis at 11W is saying Ohio State.
We used to hear stories like this so often during the Tressel years. They rarely (if ever) panned out.

With Urban Meyer at the helm, I believe in recruiting miracles.

Can you really call them miracles at this point? Meyer's been doing this ever since he got here, starting with turning a previously unranked OSU recruiting class into a Top 10 class at the 11th hour. Unless your name is Nick Saban, you better pray to God Urban doesn't have his sights set on one of your elite recruits. Hell, as we saw with Browning, even Bama isn't safe.

It is a different world for us recruiting veterans. Urban has pulled off some last minute miracles that I could not believe in the past, this would just add to the legend. Even if we don't land Trey, getting into contention like this at the last minute when it was a foregone conclusion that he was not coming here is amazing in itself.

I know a lot of people are getting their hopes up. I am not yet. Emphasis on yet. Coach Stud was in-home last night but the UT visit still looms this weekend. I know Saban is planning on having breakfast with Trey Monday morning so it would make sense if Meyer tries to sneak an in-home in on Sunday or Monday night, if the family is agreeable to it. Have to get in their Sunday or Monday because the announcement is on Tuesday.

Diddy thought he read somewhere the UFM had already locked down a Sunday or Monday visit.

I agree, I won't get overly optimistic until we get thru this weekend visit to Tenn.

I expect the kitchen sink will be thrown at Trey.

I can't imagine the UT visit will top the OSU visit since it included The Game. I know he has been to multiple games at UT but the atmosphere all over the city and campus was different that weekend. I told my dad we would land someone unexpected that attended that Game just because of the way it went down, the excitement etc. Urban is a master recruiter for certain.

I went down to Rocky Top for the first time this year to watch the Ohio U game. I can't tell you how underwhelmed I was with the experience. The stadium is horrible. The band is horrible. Their team (obviously) is horrible. I literally can't fathom why someone would pick Tennessee over Ohio State or Alabama, especially when you figure that Butch will be gone this time next year.

While I agree with much of what you have said, the problem is that you are not from the state of Tennessee like Trey. Also, they do have some nice boats that pull up to the Stadium on Friday evenings and Saturday mornings.

Oh I totally get the home-team advantage and family ties working in UT's favor. That was just my takeaway. I've been to a decent amount of campuses and college stadiums, but was just very underwhelmed in general. I did like Market Square, though. Seems like a fun college town too.

Yeah, the home team advantage thing has a strange pull, I've been to UMD many times and see nothing special with their football atmosphere, yet we've lost a number of MD/DC kids to them, same with some of the SEC schools. I've been to Ole Miss before, and though it was fun, I knew that they weren't a very good team, but home town kids are made to feel like they'll somehow make a difference when big bad Bama comes to town. I hope Trey is different and doesn't see the allure of staying home and playing for a 2nd rate team with delusions of being in the late 90s

To be fair, Knoxville is one hell of a cool city.

Ohio U excites Tennessee fans even less than it excites Ohio State fans

Go to a Vol game when they're playing Bama, Georgia, or Florida and I guarantee you will feel different

My brother in law is a Bama fan and I took him to his first buckeye game this year vs Bowling Green.....he was underwhelmed. Had I taken him to the Nebraska or Michigan games...different story

I've personally never went to a Buckeye home game(In or out of conference) that wasn't extra hyped! I've been to games against Hawaii, Northern Il, BG, New Mexico St and had a great time, but I may be a little biased. The pageantry at all big schools is interesting to me, regardless of who they're playing.
