Just sayin': This is also on his twitter page (i.e. he committed to Colorado a year ago).

Culver committed to Colorado a year ago. He was offered by Ohio State yesterday after an official visit to Columbus. He felt strongly enough about the offer to tweet about it.

Do I think that a kid who has been committed to a school for a year is going to flip to another school based on a single visit? Do I believe that Ohio State is suddenly super interested in the #86 offensive tackle in the country? No and no. But there is obviously some mutual interest between the parties. I posted the tweet because there might be a few Buckeye fans who like to be kept informed of recent developments on the recruiting trail.

It is known that the Buckeyes need a few more OL in this class to bolster their depth. Urban has stated on numerous occasions that the OL depth is not where it needs to be. It is not uncommon @ this stage of the recruiting process every year for the staff to put a few "feeler" offers out there, to determine interest level, as a back up plan, just in case they don't get OL #1, #2, and #3 on their board.

Just like the QB situation, they don't want to be left out in the cold when it comes signing day without a QB in this class so you need to have a plan B and plan C in place just in case. Culver is a plan B or C right now. and nothing wrong with that. We have had plan B guys work out well and become very successful @ OSU in the past.

Recruiting rankings appear to me to be fundamentally less reliable for OL than for most other position groups. Billy Price came in as a D-lineman, for example, and Pat Elflein was lightly recruited.

If Culver was offered, there's interest.

agreed whole heartedly. The hardest position to recruit is OT and the NFL is filled with scrawny TEs and sleepers.

No other position undergoes such a massive transformation, or features such incomplete prospects.

Heck Darryl Baldwin and Chase Farris came in as 3star DL, and Jacoby Boren was an NC winning OC that was undersized and a 3star. OL is hard to predict when most of these guys that are even 3stars out weigh the guys their playing against by 20-40+lbs

There's an audio clip, maybe in the '18 recruiting thread where he's discussed. Sounds like they are suggesting that he wasn't really evaluated by the services. Probably not a camper.

Can't hurt to bring in an under-recruited, probably has a chip on his shoulder guy. Urban has flat out said competitiveness has been lacking in some of the higher profile OL recruits we've brought in recently.

I watched that film and there is a lot to work with. He can probably add 20 lbs of muscle and not lose any athleticism. He has really good hips and seals his man completely off on a lot of those run plays. He sets well in pass pro but could use a bit more strength so he doesn't get bent back on a bull rush. Feet look capable of playing any position on the line to me. Bodies. Bodies are what we need and they need to be the kind of bodies that learn and improve every year at tOSU. Kid might be a steal.

I've heard that as well and put an audio of Duane Long saying as much in the 2018 recruiting thread. His competition wasnt the best and he didnt camp. But has had solid pass pro reps and reminds him of Mewhort(would take that any day of the week).
