RB Master Teague (3rd Team All B1G)

THE HURRY UP: SURGERY WENT AS PLANNED FOR RUNNING BACK COMMIT MASTER TEAGUE III WHILE URBAN MEYER'S WIFE HELPS OHIO STATE ON THE RECRUITING TRAIL

ON THE MEND

As we first reported on Monday afternoon, Ohio State three-star running back commit Master Teague III was set to undergo surgery on Wednesday morning to repair a peroneal tendon subluxation, a condition in which the tendon snapped out of place in his left ankle.

“Everything went well and as planned,” Teague's father, Corey, told Eleven Warriors. “Took care of the tendon slippage issue and found that there was no tearing on the tendons and no ligament issues.”

The 5-foot-11, 210-pound Teague was in surgery for less than an hour.

FINGERPRINTS ON EVERYTHING

I wondered at the time if the Buckeyes could offer any support or medical advice to Teague, his family and/or his doctors, so I asked Meyer that question during his weekly press conference on Wednesday night.

“Our doctors talk to their doctors. We give great advice. Obviously our medical team, we feels strongly they're the best in America,” Meyer said. “It's actually going on right now. We're in dialogue with other doctors in other areas that — first off all — find out the extend of the injury, then give our advice. Our doctors are so good at that.”

A committed prospect is an investment, after all, so it makes sense the staff would be allowed to oversee any potential procedures or treatment.

Church and Ohio State: A deep look at Master Teague's faith, his recruitment and the platform the Buckeyes provide

By Ari Wasserman
MURFREESBORO, Tenn. — Master Teague III had just rushed for 163 yards and two touchdowns, but the teenager who added another episode to his already-impressive highlight tape wasn't in the mood for celebrating.

He saw a moment that was bigger than him, bigger than football.

So Teague sought out his teammate, linebacker Dontavious Claybrooks, who had just had a baby with a high school classmate.

“Are you thinking abut marrying her?” Teague asked on the field.

“I don't know right now, we're young,” Claybrooks responded.

“I know it's pretty tough and people make mistakes, but I just want you to know I'm praying for you,” Teague said.

Meet one of Ohio State's future running backs. Teague, a four-star recruit of Murfreesboro (Tennessee) Blackman, is committed in Urban Meyer's 2018 recruiting class and he's enrolling early in January.

ON THE MEND

Just under two weeks after he had surgery to repair a peroneal tendon subluxation — a condition in which the tendon snaps out of place — in his left ankle, Ohio State three-star running back Master Teague III had his cast removed on Monday morning.

“The splint is off and now the rehab begins,” Teague's father, Corey, told Eleven Warriors. “Everything looked great.”

THE HURRY UP: FIVE-STAR DEFENSIVE END ZACH HARRISON ATTENDS OHIO STATE'S PRACTICE WHILE RUNNING BACK COMMIT MASTER TEAGUE III BEGINS RUNNING AFTER SURGERY

BACK TO NORMAL

Just two months after he had surgery to repair a peroneal tendon subluxation — a condition in which the tendon snaps out of place — in his left ankle, Ohio State three-star running back commit Master Teague III began running on Wednesday morning. His father, Corey, shared the good news with Eleven Warriors.

“[He has] no pain at all,” the elder Teague said. “He said it doesn't feel like he lost much strength in his legs either. He is back to squatting and things like that. He did stay pretty busy, even when he had the splint and boot on, so I am sure that helped.”
