Tom "L" Brady (likes soft balls)

In his book “Belichick and Brady,” Michael Holley explained that Brady very nearly transferred from Michigan to Cal because of his positioning on the depth chart. During the course of his SiriusXM interview with the King of All Media Wednesday, Brady acknowledged the transfer talk.

The guy who was playing above me, Scott Dreisbach, he was very much their guy,” Brady told Stern during the show. “I thought we had got off to kind of a good start, he had got off to a good start in his career, and I was looking up at all these guys on the depth chart that were ahead of me, and I thought, ‘I’m never going to get a chance here.’ I remember talking to the people at Cal, because that was my second choice, to go to Berkeley, and I was thinking, ‘Maybe I should go there, because I’ll get more of an opportunity to play.’

“I went in and talked to Lloyd Carr. I said, ‘I don’t really think I’m going to get my chance here. I think I should leave,’ and he said, ‘Tom, I want you to stay, and I believe in you, and I think you could be a good player, but you’ve got to start worrying about the things you can control.’ When he said that he wanted me there, I went to bed that night, I woke up the next day, and I figured, you know what, if I’m going to be — and I still feel this way today — in a team sport, you’ve got to sacrifice what you want individually for what’s best for the team. So if you’re not the best guy, it’s a disservice for the team if you’re forced to somehow play. My feeling was, if I’m going to be the best, I’ve got to beat out the best, and if the best competition’s at Michigan, I’ve got to beat those guys out if I’m going to play. I ended up committing to be the best.

Michigan consultant for changing his mindset and paving way for successful career

Tom Brady on Wednesday credited a consultant at the University of Michigan with helping him when he was struggling in school and paving the way for how he thinks today.

Brady said in an interview on “The Howard Stern Show” he wanted to transfer to California-Berkeley in his second year at Michigan because he was behind on the depth chart to quarterback Scott Dreisbach going into the 1997 season. He talked to Wolverines coach Lloyd Carr about staying and then met with Greg Harden, who helped changed his way of thinking.

“He helped me kind of grow up from, like, this kid in California to really being more of a man and being more on my own and taking more personal responsibility for my life because he wasn’t going to let me just be a victim,” Brady said, getting a bit choked up.

“In essence, he became one of my great friends and it was just a big shift in my mind from me b---hing and complaining all the time because I wasn’t getting what I wanted, to stop b---hing and complaining and start doing something about it,” he said.

Spoiler alert: you're way past your prime and not in the system that protects the fuck out of you. If you think you're gonna rediscover SB after SB, you're wrong.

This aged like milk.

Everything we know about Tom Brady’s extreme diet and fitness routines

Back in 2014, questions were being asked about just how long then-37-year-old Tom Brady could carry on playing pro football — and the quarterback wasn’t happy. “When I suck, I’ll retire,” he said. “[But] I don’t plan on sucking for a long time.”

Nearly seven years on and Tom Brady will, on Sunday evening, attempt to break his own record as the oldest QB ever to win a Super Bowl when his Tampa Bay Buccaneers take on the reigning champs, the Kansas City Chiefs, on the Bucs’ home turf.

Suffice to say, Brady is one of a kind, a phenomenon who shows no sign of slowing down any time soon in a sport where longevity is rare. That’s why he landed a two-year, $50 million deal with Tampa last March, making it likely he’ll still be playing when he’s 45.

Put simply, Brady is an obsessive — a man with a plan and the determination (and money) to execute it, as John Burns, CEO of Brady’s TB12 health and wellness organization, explains.

“Tom’s sustained success over the past 20-plus years is a testament to his incredible drive and his meticulous approach to everything he does.” Burns said. “It’s that mindset that allows him to keep going.”

When Brady in 2002 won the first of his record six Super Bowls, George W. Bush was president, Justin Timberlake was still a member of NSYNC, and Chiefs MVP quarterback Patrick Mahomes was 6 years old.

But nearly two decades later, Brady is still there, doing what he does better than pretty much anyone else — at a remarkable 43 years old.

Here’s how he does it.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers celebrate Super Bowl LV title with boat parade

At one point during the parade, quarterback Tom Brady was captured on video tossing the NFL's Lombardi trophy from his boat across the water to another boat carrying Buccaneers players. His completion to shirtless tight end Cameron Brate brought wild cheers from fans and players.

"That was the best catch of my life," Brate said, according to the Tampa Bay Times. "Unbelievable. That was the best catch of my life. If I had dropped that? I think I would've had to retire."
