Top 5 Favorite Players At OSU

Krenzel, Doss, MoC, Gamble, Wilhelm, Nicky, Grant......and anybody else that played for the 2002 NC Buckeyes. Those are my favorite Buckeye's. I've been a Buckeye fan since 1968, and it's hard to throw Kern and the gang in with this, but I do, only because 69 SCum and 71 Stanford, were pefect examples. Every great Buckeye team from 1969 thru 1998 gacked when it mattered most. These guys (2002) didnt, and will always be numero uno in my book.

My Five and Why

60's - PAUL WARFIELD - The first "uncoverable" receiver I can remember watching at Ohio State. If we got in trouble, we'd just chuck it to him. You can argue for some of the guys on the 68 championship team, but we still would have won if we lost one of them.

70's - JIM STILLWAGON - This guy owned the line of scrimmage. While the popular choice for this era is and should be Archie, I felt confident in every game knowing this guy was at the point of attack.

80's - CHRIS SPIELMAN - The reason we had respectable seasons - he was the wrecking ball that always saved it for us no matter how hard the offense tried to lose it for us.

90's - ORLANDO PACE - No comment necessary.

00's - MATT WILHELM - In my opinion his absence, not Clarett's, is why we didn't repeat as national champions. I can't see Wisconsin or Michigan running all over us with this guy in the middle. in 2002 he made all the plays that Reynolds, Pugac and D'Andrea couldn't. He is one of my all time favorites.

Archie - Typifies what being a Buckeye is
Spielman - A throwback player before throwback player was a popular term
Cris Carter - All he could do was catch TD's (as well as almost any other ball thrown his way)
Gradishar - The one player I vividly remember from watching a game in the Shoe as a 9 year old
Krenzel - No flash, no frills, just W's and a NC. Good ambassador off the field too.

I know I have 5 already but I have to add
Woody - What needs to be said?
