Game Thread tOSU 33, Indiana 14 (Oct 3, 7 pm ET, BTN)

Another thing - sorry if I missed this. Does anyone have an idea of the breakdown of tOSU vs IU fans in the stadium?

There looked to be a lot of empty seats (shame on IU fans for not showing up to an important night game for their team) and there also looked to be a lot of gray sweatshirts there.

On Defense-Great effort

Anderson Russell, if the coaching staff would have known this would be how you would respond they would have sat you for a game a couple of years ago.

DL as a unit- The depth hear means they are really fresh in the 2nd half. When it matters they are going to to be hard to score on.

On Offense- Good Progress

OL- Produced some good holes

Saine- more then once he really moved the pile.

TP- I agree that he overthrew several recievers, but his mechanics were sound so my guess is that he is starting to "see" his reads but he rushing his delivery causing the ball to "sail" a little. IMO that is why is he playing late into games that are not in doubt. The staff wants him to have as many reps as possible so he reaches that point that every skill player talks about where the game "slows down".

Put them back where they belong. Back to mediocrity Hoosiers. You were not going to beat the Buckeyes.

Great game once again from the RB's. Zooms leg drive this year is a sight to see. Hall has some vision and quicks.

This game was weird in that it seemed to always be on the brink of a typical IU/OSU game. 2 missed chip FGs, and some poor poor poor play in the redzone was dissapointing. On that last drive however, they seemed to be more focused on running different sets (with the goal towards scoring, obviously). OSU showed they could run it on the Hoosiers if necessary.

There were a lot of "future film" type plays used tonight. Things that showed different looks that may keep opposing coaches on their toes next time out.

Tressel is a pacer. I found it odd too that he spent A LOT of the time 50 yards away from the action. He just paced back-n-forth around the opposite 20 when the ball was on the other team's 20. Both offense and D. Listening to another game perhaps? :)

I was about 4 rows back from the OSU bench. Amazing seats. Could see everything. Especially cool when the action came to my side (I was around the 10-15). So it also worked out when I saw The Man just pacing no more than 15 yards away from me. I love Tressel.

At first it was hard to tell the how the crowd was dispersed (because of the red), but after that safety- "O-H" "I-O" got started and just TOOK over. It got loud. Players looked surprised, but they were loving it. Crowd also dominated on 3rd downs when the Bucks needed a stop. If I had to guess- maybe 60-65% Buckeyes. I don't know. I'd be hard pressed to say 70%, but it sounded like 70% nonetheless (Ohio State's dominating performance being the key factor). Players did a little A cappella of Carmen Ohio after the game with a large section of Buckeye fans on the opposite side. Duron, Posey, et al love to dance on the sideline. Team seems to have a good chemistry. Overall awesome experience.

It was as close to a sell-out as IU will get, so I'm not surprised they called it that. Still, there were about 3-4 open blocks of seats, but not too big. Probably less than 2-3000 empty and who knows what happened with those seats (someone could have bought a block just to "sell-out"). IU fans aren't very good.

Defense- great. 'Nuff said. Offense- incosistently very good. Running is there. Passing has the players, TP was a little off (and still got 4 TD's). The TD to Posey had some zip. It was perfect. TP made the decision quick, stepped in, and rifled it. I don't know how he gets out of sacks. Magician.

Buckeyes win. Michigan loses. Good day.

Go Bucks!

Maybe they are changing tactics and trying to get the Buckeyes overconfident in hopes that they will lose to Wisconsin next week. Then they can pile on again.

Well, with Buckeyes against PSU, Iowa, and TSUN to end the season as televised revenue opportunities, it's hard to believe that they won't punt Ohio State a bit. After all, Mark May presents an alternative viewpoint.

Nothing they say should be understood to be for any reason other than to build their revenues. Get rid of BTN and the Buckeyes will be their favorite program.

I think they had a "Seat Out". It's where people come dressed up as empty seats to psych out the other team. It's every bit as creepy and lame as that thing Penn State does.

They had quite a few, but there were definitely empty spots around the new athletic facility in the closed end. Aside from a solid IU area behind our bench, I think that everything else seemed 50/50. Our presence was definitley felt although the video from the Youtube "o-h-i-o" cheer in past years made it seem as if we were less overwhelming this year.

Just like everyone said- Its a very good place to go as a vistor. Especially if you have younger ones. The endzone mini football field is really cool, plus its right next to where the Buckeyes came out of the locker room and where they warm up. We sat in a amixture of fans- all joked with each other....Great experience.

My thoughts on the game....

On offense I thought it was a pretty sloppy game at best. I love the fact that it's primarily Shotgun now because it really seems to have gotten Pryor involved more with his legs. The first two games had Pryor dropping back into the pocket and IMO the time it took for him to drop back was a waste. Because by the time he was setting up I thought the rush was closing in and now with him already back 5 yards its giving him more time to either make a decision or take off. Only negative I thought was Pryor's intermidiate game. It may not hurt us now but come Penn State we have to have those quick slants and out routes when it's 3rd and 5 to mov e the chains. A lot of his throws were excessively high but he did throw for three TD's with one of them being a rope. The INT was there and I can see why he threw it but I thought he waited until he was 100% sure he was open and like Tressel says sometimes he's gata throw it at 80%. A good thing is that we have TONS of weapons and now its just a matter of Pryor executing and getting those guys the ball. Posey, Sanzo, Saine, Boom, Carter, Small, and Ballard is a nice group of people. I hope we can get Stoneburner involved because boy does he look intimidating out there when he's lined up.

On defense- What more can be said? I know I'll be in the minority here but even though Russel came up with some TO's I thought it was kind of obvious still he struggles in coverage. He's nice to mix in but I could definately tell we were missing something on defense (that being #4). If not for the offensive turnover at the end and us having 2nd teamers in we hold this team to 7 points and around 180 yards of offense. However, I see it as a good thing the way it went down at the end. Because I think it will piss this defense off that the scoreboard looks like Indiana had relative success against the starting Defense. Which, I believe was obviously far from the case.

A side note is it's funny how the big ten network says "if not for Indiana mistakes this game isn't that bad"... Well good defenses FORCE those turnovers and thats what we did. We forced Indiana to turn the ball over and I credit our defense for making Indiana looking silly. It definately wasn't Indiana just being "off".

Overall I thought we played to our potential in the 2nd quarter but not much past that. Two missed field goals, and a late TD because of a fumbled snap by the backups made this game actually look closer than it was. It's a win though...
