OHIO STATE REMAINS UNBEATEN BY ESCAPING INDIANA, BUT STILL HAS MORE QUESTIONS THAN ANSWERS OFFENSIVELY

Urban Meyer didn't even know what had happened at the end of the game. All he knew was that his team remains unbeaten.

"I couldn't even see it. What happened?" Ohio State's head football coach said Saturday, asking the reporter for an update on what went down on the final play of his team's 34-27 escape act at Indiana.

He was told cornerback Eli Apple knocked away Zander Diamont's last ditch effort in the end zone with the clock reading 0:00, giving the nation's top-ranked team its first Big Ten win of 2015. Then, Meyer nodded and pursed his lips as he waited for another question.

He knew it wasn't pretty. He knew it wasn't what people expected. He knew it was a win, but he also knows of the climb awaiting the defending national champion.

"I think I've learned to enjoy it, but I'm very frustrated," Meyer said.

The Buckeyes turned the ball over three times against the Hoosiers Saturday, a team that was previously unbeaten but sat worst in the conference defensively, allowing an average of 499 yards per game. Ohio State managed 517 in the game, but an interception by Cardale Jones and two fumbles from Jalin Marshall prevented the door from being all the way shut on the Hoosiers until the final whistle.

"The turnovers have to change right now. I mean, right now," Meyer said. "There's a couple of ways to do it, just keeping coaching and emphasize what we do. And second, the guys who lay it on the ground just can't play."

If a video of jalin doing spin moves into trees in a snow covered forest should surface tomorrow afternoon he'll be my hero forever.

  • The issue is that last year, the offense was ringing up 50 plus points on team. The difference is they are missing key senior leadership which they had last year in Devin Smith, Spencer and Hauerman.
  • Think Auburn, Alabama, or Georgia would take a win like this?
Yes they would.

Am I happy with the performance, No.

Do I think we can make the playoff playing this way, .........no.

I trust the team to improve but am growing more apprehensive by the week.

Great half time blocking adjustments by the coaches that made all the difference!
“We went to gap blocking,” head coach Urban Meyer said. “We were getting a lot of movement to disrupt zone plays and we went to gap blocking and our offensive line came punching off the ball.”
This is why Urban has some of the best coaches in college football!

McMillin left game with a migraine. Hurt the defense.

Marshall needs to work on ball security. That's a coachable correction. Remember, this is just his second year as a WR!

Taos, second year as a wide receiver doesn't have any implications for ball security. Ball protection is taught in high school. Marshall has such incredible potential, but putting it on the ground ensures that he will have a wonderful seat to watch the action and little more.

I don't get the whole "this happened last year" mantra because it certainly DID NOT. sure VT shut us down but we then rolled every team progressively worse every week after. We had two weeks were we struggled (the first two) but then really started to build on good performances with the occasional hiccup like Pedo.

Last year's team struggled at Minnesota, struggled at home against a depleted Indiana team and didn't pull away from Michigan until halfway through the final quarter. How many of us thought that team, minus their #1 and #2 QBs, would lay 59 on Wisconsin?

That's not entirely true. OSU struggled against a [Mark May]ty Ped State team, an average at best Indiana team and a mediocre Minnesota team last year. Hell, it was only a one score game against those cocksuckers up north until late in the 4th quarter. Last year's team did do a better job blowing out MAC teams and the like though.
Four games over a season then.... well this is four in a ROW.

Now that I ave had some sleep for the alcohol to get out of my system. I've come to agree with the post game presser. If we don't turn the ball over 3 times that is a blowout. I feel good about the talent right now. For all the shit we gave cardale he was 18/27 for 245. That's a 67% completion rate. We gave him shit for every bad pass, but this is college and 67% is really freaking good. Zeke is a monster and the line is shaping up. Mental mistakes can be cleaned up. 100+ yds in penalties and turnovers are the problem. Everything we saw bad out there can be fixed. This game showed a lot more promise than the last few weeks. It just looks like nerves out there especially in the red zone and once the OCs hit a rhythm this team could be unstoppable.
