Who thought we'd be missing Chris Jent so much? I believe he was considered our "shooting coach" the last few years, now gone to the NBA.

I feel like ADV and Loving have regressed since December... and yeah, I know the competition is tougher now than pre-season.

Rough stuff, hard to watch. It must hurt Jent to watch the Buckeyes this year.

Our shooters are scared. When they shoot jumpers, they're not fluid. They don't look like they're shooting jumpers, they look like they're putting canned goods on shelves. Point and push. Ugh.

Shoot jumpers how about free throws. The guys on this team might be saying that they do not lack confidence but I would beg to differ because that is the way they are shooting. In addition, they really are not playing very good perimeter defense.. At least the defense that we have seen in prior years. Losing to Indiana without their big man is just embarrassing. I do not know maybe Matta can get something turned around with a week of preparation and get the guys refreshed or something but I am just not saying that… Unfortunately.

I really don't think this team is worthy of an NCAA bid. They have lost to the dregs of the BIG...
Smith base to differ with you:biggrin2:
"We're a great team when we come to execute and when we're on top of our game," Smith said. "I said we can beat any team in the country, and I'm going to stick by that. I'm going to stay on the boat, and I should be happy with what we should produce at the end of the season.

"I'm not panicking. I'm not worried about anything."

as does Ross:lol:

"This team is still capable of a lot man," Ross said. "With the players in this locker room, we can still make a long run in the tournament. There's a reason this team and coaching staff has been to four straight Sweet 16s."

Hey, I give the guys credit for continuing to believe in themselves. That is a great thing. If they can translate that into some confidence on the court, well then maybe they can make their statements come true....8D
I think we all hope that. However, after these past two games I just do not see it. Hopefully, Matta can get them straightened out during the week.

No 3's, but did anyone even hit a 12 to 15 ft jumper? I don't recall one.
That would be a resounding NO.

Jesus. Unless my eyes deceive me, that's 2-16 outside the paint, with the "2" being right on the edge of the paint. It's hard to be THAT bad.

So, anyway...beat sparty, and that's a nice jump off into the post season. Fortunately, we get them at the Schott and they have proven to be very beatable this year.

The game is at Ohio State. We have already played at Michigan State. I am surprised that you don't see any leadership on this team, especially in Craft. He has always played hard in every game this year. For you to heap praise on him in one sentence and then bring him down, because he is TOO small and can't drive to the basket? That is a double take to me..............

Their identity has always been the same. The problem is our outside shooting has been the poorest in quite sometime. At times Aaron drives to the basket, hoping the defense will collapse on him and he can find the outside open man, but this year we are just not getting the shots to fall. Plain and simple. Basketball at times can be a funny game. One game you are up and the next game you are down. We are just having one of those years.

What I said was that they do not have another leader. As far as why he drives to the basket...I know why and so does everyone else, but all you have to do is look at the math to realize that it's not working . The refs aren't calling the fouls, and too often he is blocked. I've resigned to the fact that this is not their year, and just as I said for Craft, I wish all the team the best as they move on into March. Don't try to paint me as a hater....far from it.

Craft needs to pull up for mid-range bank shots more often, he did it last year at IU with great success, and has done it at times this year, but yet for whatever reason he seems to have tunnel vision at times, including in this game and he doesn't try to get mid-range shots like that even though he is really good at them.

I was not aware that Chris Jent was the Shooting coach for Ohio State. That could explain why the low shooting percentage this year.
Craft really tried to carry this team, many times on his dribble drives to the hoop but on occasions, he got hammered going in. And I agree with DZ83CK, about Craft pulling up for mid range bank shots during the IU game last year. This year we started out pretty OK against Indiana but then the wheels started coming off and we could never recover. Coming down the stretch against MIch ST and into the BIG Tournament, maybe we can try and fix and put the wheels back on the wagon one more time.

No where in my post did I describe you, as a hater, If I gave you that impression, that was not my intention.
Many occasions I have seen Craft dribble drive to the basket with success. Last year, he did that with such ease, and maybe
in past years he could do that. But with Diebler and Thomas, not on the wings anymore, those opportunities have gone by the wayside. As long as our shooters were hitting the mark, it gave Craft more freedom to try and beat the defender to the hoop.
He has been with the team, four solid years. And his presence for that long of a period, gave the opposition to finally
figure out his strategy. And I still say he is one of your better defensive players in the BIG. I hope this "paints" a different picture for you now, hoping that its not too far from it :>)
