tOSU @ Marquette, Sat 11/16 @ 1p ET

The only good thing about this game especially when watching it is that a win is a win for the Buckeyes. They have to get better with her outside shooting or this is going to be a very long season. You cannot win with defense all of the time. Maybe in football but not basketball.

A road win against a quality opponent who had a 27 game home win streak. Not bad at all! I don't think Marquette or OSU is anywhere near rounded into form, and hopefully Marquette will get things together and make this win look impressive on OSU's tourney resume.

There are a lot of good things to take out of this win. First big road win of the year (happened in November this season as opposed to March last season), should be a good resume win come tourney time. I'm not sure Marquette will get a particularly good seed but I believe they will be a tourney team. Good effort by the OSU team and certainly the length and quickness of OSU stood out. Loving played well, and it's a good sign that he has earned Matta's trust to play as many minutes as he did - looks like a keeper for sure.

Q has to get on track and hopefully eventually ADV and perhaps Kam can provide some more 3-point shooting to help open things up offensively. The only thing OSU needs to improve significantly on is shooting - that's not a bad place to be in for a team this early in the year, especially because you know substantially the same team improved offensively last season as the year wore on. Q has to get on track and hopefully eventually ADV and perhaps Kam can provide some more 3-point shooting to help open things up offensively. It's not a given that they will make the offensive improvement they need to peak like they did last year, but there's good reason for hope.

And I agree that you can't win all the time with defense in basketball. When this team gets in the tourney, they will need to score in the 70's against good teams to win those games. It's so early, there's plenty of time for this team to improve offensively, but certainly there is an element of doubt considering they had all that time last year and couldn't shoot very well from the field against Wichita State.

I think beating a Big East team with a 27 game home winning streak is pretty impressive in mid-November. Sure the Bucks have some work to do, but they won by 17 points on the road in spite of it.

I know it is early in the season but Marquette only beat New Hampshire by 5 last night. We shall see how good they are as the season progresses but last night is certainly not a very good indicator.
