tOSU @ Michigan State, Tues 1/7 @ 9p ET, ESPN

Its the 18 that was their problem..the 3s tOSU took were for the most part contested..the last 3 for MSU were uncontested. Settling for 3's were the problem..MSU ran on tOSU after the missed 3's. Our defense after makes was effective but MSU got to many run outs on our misses.

Well that and the 21 turnovers they also had. You can survive one or the other when you play defense the way Ohio State does, but not both.

And I think the volume of missed 3s contributed to how stagnant the offense looked at times.

You can't disregard the bad shooting. As I said, 4 for 18 from 3 is only slightly below their season average. That is their fatal flaw.

Yeah, clearly the offense could improve in terms of shooting the 3. It may be this flaw lasts all season, but hopefully they will figure out how to get the offense on track a lot faster against the tougher defenses out there.

If you can't drive, what are you going to do? Have to take some sort of shot and MSU wasn't letting OSU drive for the most part.

I wouldn't bet on it - if the 3 is a part of the normal flow of this offense, and every year matta has been here it has been to varying extents, I doubt we'll see much improvement. Even against the bad teams they played in the pre-season they didn't shoot it all that well most of the time.

Why is it 3 or drive ..a mid range pull up jumper is better than a contested 3 or driving out of control and getting a TO. This what infuriates me about today's HS game its 3 or drive. I remember teams before the 3 scoring 70 on average and then last year I watch a team with Jabari Parker and other Div1 prospects struggle to score 50. I hope college and HS officials would call the games tighter..a bump on most college players causes a TO or missed shot..they are not LeBron or Duncan. The HS I graduated from won the OHIO HS title in 1971..they pressed and scored on average 73 ponts per game without the dunk(prohibited) or the 3.

Of course that website only gives you 3 options that a shot could fit into, a shot at the rim, a 2-point jumper, and a 3-point shot. So if it's not a layup or dunk attempt then they're probably counting it as a jumper even if it is at fairly close range.
