Putting aside the very questionable "not coached up well" tag for guys like dials, Ravenel, Lauderdale, what exactly could Thad do to meet these lofty standards?

Greg was possibly the best collegiate defensive enforcer in his generation in an era ruled by offense and face up centers. What would he have to have accomplished in an injury plagued season to earn your praise for Thad? He absolutely destroyed the gators and they are one of the best college teams in a long while.

What level of dominance would Jared have needed to reach for you to give any credit to Thad? He was dominant throughout his tenure and even came back for a second go around.

Of course they arrived with a mountain of natural talent but when you act like he can't coach big men it seems like you view Thad as a great recruiter that just sits back and hopes they do good out there.

I'll agree that Amir is better than last year, but for a third year man is he as good as he should be? Shouldn't he be the one pushing guys like Eliason and walker around?
I also wonder what happened to out shooting all of a sudden?

Few If any would claim Amir is where we hoped he would be. He has been very soft and Dakich lays into him for that.

The reason osu fans hoped he would be the next great one is because of how many talented bigs Thad has recruited and developed. Apparently you think they arrived as stars and Thad had little or nothing to do with what they became after that. I disagree pretty severely with that dismissal of his coaching.

That was tough to watch. Stating the obvious here but if we don't find a scorer outside of Ross, this is not a tournament team. Loving looks like the only other natural scorer. The fact that we haven't been scoring is only being compounded by how sloppy we have been with the ball, which is what is really bothering me. Sometimes you can't help that you aren't scoring, but you can always take care of the ball...that's just an effort and focus problem, which is concerning.

Plus side is that Matta usually gets the team to peak down the stretch and we are going to need it more than ever.

Amir, man he has been a dud quite honestly. Not only has his play been lackluster, but he has the reputation of being a McD's AA and a top-50 recruit which has I think driven other recruits away because they think he might be difficult to compete with for minutes. But unfortunately Amir has never been a consistently good player against teams with good big men.

Buckeye fans have to pray that Myles Turner picks tOSU or else it's going to be another year of weak play in the interior next season. Whatever the frontcourt did against Minnesota, it wasn't what this team needs.

There's no winning argument against you when you've started with a circular argument. I think it's a poor argument to say that any big men that turn out to be really good will be due to recruiting, thereby eliminating coaching as having any impact in the product - that only leaves the lesser big men to argue about, and no coach is judged solely by his worst players. And BTW, I think it's foolish to suggest Koufos didn't pan out - he had a strong year, 3rd team All-B1G is not something you just get handed to you as a freshman.

Matta has had a lot of talented players but clearly Amir has not put forth the effort to play well on a consistent basis. Is that Matta's fault really? I guess you could say he should go after someone else with more of a motor but he took the highest rated player he could get in that class. The real problem with Matta's plan is not getting any other big men to add to this team. You could see last season that Amir's play wasn't going to cut it on a consistent basis unfortunately. And it is very questionable why he would stand pat and not add another big man when he has his best (Ravenel) graduate for the second year in a row without any new guys joining the team. You've got to add someone to your team so you're not just relying on Amir, or else this is what you end up with, games like the Minnesota game where Amir isn't effective but he's the only guy with size on the team so you have to play him anyway.

ADV needs to get more playing time. The shooting is just awful on this team.

The defensive intensity flows into a bit of chaos on offense sometimes I think. They don't always regain control on the drive and subsequent passing in the offense. Tons of athleticism on this team but no stabilizing role players really. Aaron Craft is unbelievable as an energy guy and defensive stopper but we don't have a guy that calms everyone down and resets the game on the offensive end. Ball handling is suspect as well unfortunately. There has to be someone on this roster who can step up and be a unifying force for Thad on the court.

Yeah, I think both of those guys got in because there weren't many high profile players at their positions in that class. It was an especially lean year at the C position, and unfortunately OSU basically had to add at least one guy at that position in that class.

what happened to the play of the guards ? why all of a sudden is ross the only guy scoring? what happened to the three 3 year guards wer have/

Smith scored 19 points per game thru the non copnference , WHAT HASPPENED/
