tOSU @ Minnesota, Tues 1/6 @ 9pm ET on ESPN/WatchESPN

Agree regarding Kam and that is probably why he does not see much playing time and perhaps why Matta tried playing zone defense this year. In a man-to-man defense, he is just a liability which is too bad because he can really score the ball.

Regarding Amir, I knew he blew that little bunny at the end of regulation but I do not think that he had a very good grip on the ball and he really rushed it. I have not read this entire thread but the majority of it and everyone seemed to really rip him because of that. Everyone has been waiting for him to show some emotion and he finally did which even though it was pretty detrimental it was emotion. I thought he played pretty well on the defensive end last night and certainly did not get any breaks from the officials.

I noticed where some posters cannot understand why Matta did not go deeper into his bench. I think that might be the main reason he tried to play zone this season was so that he could give the starters some rest because not everyone on that team can play man-to-man.

I like everyone thought the officiating was pretty bad in the second half and why I like Dakich I think he should have gotten on the officials like he usually does.

This team has got to play tougher come Saturday or they are going to lose at Bloomington.

OK... I'm a homer
but the fix was in and the refs were paid off

all jokes aside... this thought popped into my head a hundred times last night
and that ball WAS kicked.. the trajection and spin are definitely altered after he kicks it

DeAngelo should have filed assault charges
I still don't think Amir fouled that kid.. great block

Re: Amir

Although I would have liked it had it gone in the layup at the end doesn't bother me. At least it got to the rim. It's the THREE times he was fed coming down the lane for a dunk and the ball was stripped from him. Put the ball in two hands, power up and dunk on people. It's why you are in the game.

I was harsh in my criticism and my son (who played at a high level and has coached) said "well, he does set nice screens". When that's the best complement you can make you know you are looking at some serious deficiencies but we all knew this already.

Why do you say Kam can't play man D? I understand he may need some work in terms of his instincts, but at the same time he is a freshman who has good quickness and is active defensively, I think he has potential to be a decent enough defender in the m-t-m.

I thought the team played pretty damn tough at Minnesota, and I feel that IU is not as tough defensively as Minnesota played especially the second half, which is why OSU has a shot at IU. Of course the refs are going to favor the home team there as well.

His help side defense is non existent. He can play his man but his grasp of man principles as a team defense aren't there yet.

In addition to what is mentioned in the post above this one, I think it is rather obvious that his minutes have been diminished since Matta has gone to the man-to-man defense from the zone defense. Matta obviously does not like the way he plays man-to-man and I guess I trust his judgment more than a lot of people's judgment on the board.
