tOSU @ Nebraska, Mon 1/20 @ 7p ET, BTN

If they are ranked next week I'd be absolutely shocked. There's no way this team has shown they are worth even a 12 seed at this point. You can play defense until your legs fall off, but if you can't score in a half court offense, you are doomed to mediocrity. This team has zero scoring presence and only scores when the other teams break down on defense or in fast breaks.

At this point, I kind of wonder if they'll win more than 2 more games this year (against Ped State, who is truly horrible at basketball).

Kind of think that their ceiling might be playing spoiler to a team or two in conference. Might put a good game together and knock off a UM, MSU or UW on a given night but I don't see them making any post season tournament the way they are playing right now. I knew they were ranked way too high to start the year but didn't foresee this type of collapse. Looks to me like they've quit, at least some of them anyway.

Craft-Scott-Thompson-Ross-Williams starting. As soon as the tip goes up, Loving checks in. Teams are eliminating driving lanes completely. Either by zone or aggressive/reaching man to man. We need to go a bit Princeton offense with the back cuts.

You have to feel bad for this team and i hope they find a way to regroup. Matta is a great coach, recruiter, but one observation that i am sure i am not the omly one to make is why do his teams hustle like hell to come back after trailing, only to freeze just when they are one or two points +/- and no matter what got them to come back, they start trying 3's. How many games have ae lost that way? I dont think he will solve that puzzle ever.

Craft isn't exactly absolved of guilt here. He's making incredibly stupid drives to the basket and he's turning the ball over quite a bit.
That's all he's got though.

I'm not sure where people see this ship being "righted." This team is what it is. Matta can't just go and find or develop a scorer midway through the season all of a sudden.

I'll be happy to be proven wrong, Thad.

Craft needs to try the mid-range bank shot or floater more often. He can get maybe 2-3 of those off every game but it seems like he gets tunnel vision and has to drive all the way to the basket and either shoot a layup or pass.

There's enough talent to be a better team than what they've been the past few games. Matta just has to get the right combinations and strategies for them. I feel pretty confident that Matta will make some changes to help this team, he's already shown he's willing to break routine finally with putting Amir on the bench when he was out of it. Once a couple guys get more confidence in their shot and Amir gets his head on straight, they will be better.

I think the past couple of games have shown that the scoring talent and scoring touch just isn't there no matter the combination or strategy.

I'm not sure what others see in Scott--I see a guy who struggles to shoot from the perimeter and score as much as anyone else on the team. He's shooting 28.6% from 3-point range, which is the same as Craft, except that Scott has taken twice as many threes. Last night, he was 2-6 from the field, and 0-3 from 3-point range. I think I'd put Thompson or Loving in the starting lineup over Scott.

playing as the 2 guard is detrimental to scott. next year when he's the sole pg playing with guys like russell, kbd, kam williams and such, he'll miraculously look better as being the facilitator.
