tOSU Recruiting Discussion

Lovell was injured a lot of his junior year, not sure if that's the reason for lack of offers so far though. I could be dead wrong on him, don't think so. I would have taken him in the 2011 class if he were a senior that year. He's really really good.

DeVeon looks like a beast but does he offer anything Dunn doesn't? Could have been an offer just to keep us in the game or maybe they like him that much.

My (extremely early) rational wish list (assuming we end up with 18-20):
1. QB: Malik Zaire
2. RB: Derrick Green
3. RB/WR: Ty Isaac
4. WR/ATH: Jalin Marshall
5. WR: Robert Foster
6. WR: Uriah LeMay (yeah maybe a stretch but the ties are there)
7. TE: Adam Breneman
8. OT: Evan Lisle
9. OT: Ethan Pocic
10. OT: Hunter Bivin
11. DE/LB: Jaylon Smith
12. DE/DT: Elijah Daniel
13. DT: Billy Price
14. DT: Donovan Munger
15. LB: Courtney Love
16. DB: Cameron Burrows
17. DB: Eli Woodard
18. DB: Dymonte Thomas (I truly think the flip will happen)
19. DB: Caleb Day
20. ATH/LB: Ben Gedeon

- If my scholarship number is off, let me know and I'll adjust. That would be one sick class alone but of course we are going to have interest from other top national guys like Fulwood, Muhammed, Levenberry, Gray, McQuay, Tilley-Tulman, Fox, Parker, Gilmore, O'Daniel, etc...if we could pull anyone off that list, it would be amazing. Biggest stretches I have above are Thomas, LeMay, Isaac, and Bivin.

It is interesting to see your list 1 year out rbosu, which I think is as good as guess at this point as any. What I see as interesting is the class looks to be about one-half Ohio guys. If OSU can get most of the top 10-12 guys in Ohio, plus the 4-5 out of staters that we now are in extremely strong position for, that would leave alot of time and energy for the last 5 or so national recruits, likely all difference makers. I like the odds of UFM and staff to hit another home run in this situation.

Contrast this with Michigan's situation. As of a few days ago, Mich had only 4 offers out in-state. Of those one is already committed to ND. According to Mgoblog a couple of the others are consideredSparty leans. The '12 class had around 9 in-state players in it. Likely no home field help this year. Maybe 80-85 percent will have to be out of state recruits. At this point Mich has at least 20 offers out in the state of Ohio. Many of these guys will not also be offered by OSU. Looks similiar to Rich Rods Ohio strategy. This recruiting cycle Mich. will be working with a weak home state crop, competing against a no longer crippled OSU in Ohio and the rest of the midwest. This year will be a good test as to whether Mich. is truly back in recruiting.

This thread feels like it's defeating the whole spirit of Christmas...I mean seriously we haven't even had a chance to unwrap and play with our shiny new toys from this year yet.:tongue2:

Yet with UFM it's just so totally relevant.

Huge weekend for visits, lots of things to look for: Out of state we have Bailey, Hatcher, and Kimbrough all coming in without offers. Would not surprise me to see al 3 leave with offers. Further, there just may be a few commitments to come out of the visit with Woodard, Price, and Day all coming. Not saying all of this will transpire but just something to keep an eye on...I wouldn't be surprised to see a windfall of commits this weekend. Finally, getting Fox and Isaac in for the weekend is huge. Too bad Marshall and Burrows can't be there to work on 'em.

I'm guessing that even though they are not there and in person they are still targeting a few fellow recruits in some form or fashion. Like texting, FB, or something like that.

Just an overall observation of the type of kids we seem to be recruiting in this class: Not only does it seem we are recruiting based on great talent, but from most of the film I've seen of the guys we are in on, it looks like these guys play with great heart and toughness out there. It's playing with wreckless abandon on defense and fighting for every inch on offense. I LOVE that. It's something I think this team was missing for the most part very late in Tressel's tenure at Ohio State and Urban looks to be bringing that back.

It's that mixture of talent and heart/toughness that wins national championships. Excited for the future.
