tOSU Recruiting Discussion

Obviously, there is room for Malik, and I believe he will be a buckeye. But if he doesn't, then that sort of implies that there is room for one OTHER player? Since this is the last year of the scholarship reduction, UFM must have someone lurking out there, ready to pounce on the last opening.

Prescient. Darius Slade, aka John Doe OTHER.

From a sheer mathematical perspective, all hysteria, drama, discussions of tragedy, morals, shoulds/coulds/woulds aside, there may not be room for Malik anymore, unless perhaps if Marcus Baugh gets in trouble again in the next few days. The option for players to suddenly change their mind a few days before (or on) signing day is gone. If I were a player, I would make sure I was off the street at dark.

I am not sure if FSU oversigns or not.

Keeping Jones and signing Slade makes this another hellacious class. I'd like to have McDowell or another line, but fact of the matter is we are already 3 over the 82 room as is, which means we'll need to trim three players before fall camp. Urban mentioned that there may be fifth year players who won't return and medical waivers.

I believe it's two over, unless Jeff Greene or someone unknown is now on scholarship.

Can't see any attrition from the RS seniors, of which we have three: Rod Smith (who may start), Darryl Baldwin (projected starting RT) and JT Moore (who was on most special units, plus his competition is Baugh [who is on double secret probation himself]).

As for med DQs: I'm gonna be pissed if Bogard's pair of injuries cost him his career...I think Darron Lee, James Clark, Michael Hill and Jayme Thompson are expected to be full-go by August if not Spring Ball.

Won't speculate on any other transfers.

I guess I was counting Rashad Frazier as a scholarship player, but don't know if that's a year by year deal. You are right, without Frazier, we are over by 2.

When listening to the interviews of one of the Glenville players (I don't remember exactly who), they said that they spoke to current tOSU players and found that none of them had anything bad to say about tOSU. And, it was a tradition to go to tOSU. And you could enjoy the company of older friends and friends the same age.

My point? Having a couple Glenville players in this class bodes well for future recruiting.

Reading the behind the scenes of NSD should make any OSU fan feel good knowing we didn't go through half the drama as other teams.

Some highlights from the artcile:
Gerald Willis, who happens to be a half brother of Landon Collins, their mom (the same infamous LSU fan mom that opposed Landon going to Alabama) decided to get In a fight willis' step mother over appearing on the stage when willis committed, smh. I sure hope this lady has no more kids that play football.

Travis Rudolph(FSU commit) trolling Alabama fans, coaches and media. Further proof to not pay attention to recruits and social media.

I think it comes down to character. We strive to get student athletes that are mature and have high character. Not saying that is always how it ends up but that is an important thing at Ohio State. In the south they have made it so much about the hype and playing the medias games. They all bought into it, not just the high school seniors but the coaching staffs as well. All that matters is how many stars you can get on your board, whatever the true cost. They can have their soap opera lives.

Another preferred walk-on...Isaiah Williams, safety from Northmont. Kid was first team All-Ohio and had over a dozen DII offers. Here is an article from 2012:

Northmont junior wants to follow alums, play at OSU

Very nice. Watched Northmont several times the past few years and Williams is a player. Don't be surprised if he makes some noise on the depth chart sooner than later.
