tOSU Recruiting Discussion

Rivals - Army All-Combine Team: Offense

1/10

A few names that I noticed:

KY RB Damien Harris
OH RB L.J. Scott
TN WR Josh Malone

I REALLY want to see us knock the door down for Malone. Up to 6'5 and has a completely different skill set than any other receiver we have or are in on. I think he is an elite 5 star type and would love to see him in S&G.

I think the Damon Webb committment is incredible. I've been following recruiting pretty closely since 2001 and I've maintained that I've never seen OSU beat out Michigan for a Michigan native when both teams went after them as a priority recruit. Johnathon Hankins was offered late by RichRod, and Lloyd never seemed to go very hard after Vernon Gholston. This is a first IMO, and it's about time for some recruiting payback. I love it!

I love seeing Urban going hard after the best HS kids in that state up north. If for any other reason, it keeps Hoke on his toes. Hopefully us going hard after MI's best will help keep Hoke on his side of the fence a little more... especially early on here... because his staff will have to put more time into recruiting those in-state prospects to keep them home.

At this point right now, scUM is striking out on the best prospects in their state, and I don't know about you guys, but it's giving me great enjoyment watching their fans squirm. It's seriously Rich Rod-ish. Webb just committed to us, WR Drake Harris and LB Deon Drake have both opted for MSU, QB Chance Stewart verballed to Wisconsin, and DEs Lawrence Marshall and Malik McDowell are uncommitted, but look to be have battles ahead for their committment instead of the "lock" their fans consider those type of in-state prospects to be.

This:
[ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UUZBaB4J1xU"]The Ohio State Pump Up! - YouTube[/ame]

Versus this:
[ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cPxPSzz0LBY"]Brady Hoke: Philosopher King - YouTube[/ame]

Now, I am obviously biased in the extreme and the video exaggerates Hoke's obnoxious voice and stammering, but I just can't imagine after someone (Webb) has bought in to what Meyer is selling that they would be persuaded otherwise by Brady Hoke.

Maybe they hide Hoke in a closet and let Mattisson do all the talking. That is probably their go-to strategy.

Hoke's pitch has worked well with jilted Ohio players and players that wanted to go to Ohio State (Green), but the writing seems to be on the wall for Hoke's struggles recruiting at the elite level, outside of the OL, where all parties are equally interested in a player.

Last year bought him some time though. And if he can get 7-8wins consistently with a 9 or 10 win season occasionally, hell stay for quite some time. Which actually bodes well for us. I dont think he gets fired before shane morris graduates, imo.

I gathered from the folks at Stadium and Main, that McDowell may be a ND lean at this point.

I believe that was Damon Flint, and Bob Huggins called the NCAA on tOSU. Damon subsequently went to UC, and after that ?.

Didn't think you could give recruits anything other than a night's lodging and a meal or two, but certainly not any SWAG. However, returning from a recruiting visit with my daughter, she received a tee-shirt with the college's name, etc on it. I asked whether this was a violation, and was told, "everybody does it".....school's not D I or D II, so may not fall under NCAA scrutiny...

You are correct. It was Flint. The rumor was that big Bob did report it but never was really factual.

If your daughter was visiting a Division III college, I have never one of them being sanctioned and a NAIA school falls under the jurisdiction of the NAIA.

Offered Drake Harris from TSUN. Top football and basketball recruit already committed to MSU.

http://michiganstate.247sports.com/...king-A-Strong-Bid-To-Flip-Drake-Harris-111424

When asked if he has an interest in Ohio State, Harris replied, ?yes, a lot.?

Harris said he is going to visit Ohio State.
?Yes I am soon,? he said. ?I?m going to set up something with coach Meyer and go from there.?

This would be huge and I'm sure Thad will be more than happy to get involved.
