tOSU Recruiting Discussion

Sure. LJ has a great "history" of recruiting and developing players.
But.
Bosa was here already. Bennett was already here. Washington was already here.
Our best guys were already here when he came.
Where are LJs recruits?
What have they done yet?
Arguably, Vrable has done more HERE.
This year, I want to see LJs guys show up. I want to see if he still has it as a recruiter. Has it as the equal of Vrable.
I think those are totally reasonable expectations.

I think your expectations and observations are totally unreasonable given the fact that he's be at Ohio State for ONE FREAKING YEAR. You want to see his recruiting results here? Give him a couple of years to recruit and don't make a baseless judgement based on nothing.

I think those are totally reasonable expectations juxtaposed against a totally unreasonable timeline.

FIFY.

I tried to stay quiet and let this fizzle out but it hasn't. We just won a NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP with LJ coaching Steve Miller and Rashad Frazier (not Noah Spence) at DE. His recruits were freshmen. He has been here one year. Patience is a virtue.

Yeah, totally reasonable to lambast LJ Sr for not having "his guys" given the 3 weeks of recruiting he had to land anyone. Unless I'm forgetting someone, he only had time to flip Slade, who was hurt all year and redshirted.

If any of "his guys" were playing huge minutes this year osu would have been in trouble , as kids do not thrive in the realm of grown men.

Stellar take, Taos.

Adolphus Washington is locked in as a starter at the 3-technique DT.

I have extremely high hopes for Schutt, Hill and Munger both at NT and providing depth in general.

Munger flashed potential late in the year while Schutt and Hill just need to stay healthy.

Additionally, you've got Dylan Thompson (injury) and Tracy Sprinkle (legal trouble) as total wild cards who might be able to crack the rotation.

As already pointed out, LJ Sr has proven to be a great developer of talent over the course of his career, and despite missing on the big fish DTs in 2015, the cupboard is far from bare for him to work with IMO- even without any of the 2015 guys making an instant impact.

I was not as high on Munger originally as some. I have changed my tune. I think he can be a solid NT in the OSU system, as 86 said. Also think he could be used like Bennett as a guy who can move outside at times. Adding some depth with guys like Schutt and Hill will help the rotation.

I'm overjoyed with our staff; it's the best in the nation. And our recruiting, excellent under Tressel, has stepped up even more under Urban Meyer.

With all that being said, given the size of the 2015 recruiting class, it's not quite up to multiple and/or sequential National Championship snuff IMO. I hope I'm wrong, obviously, and 2016 is shaping up to be otherworldly for us. But this one will, I think, qualify as a bit of a miss when we look back. Defensive tackle is a spot where we didn't get the depth of talent, or even the top-end talent, that we would all hope for.

Rich People's Problems, to be sure.
