tOSU Recruiting Discussion

I like to think that nobody's done less with more than les miles. But Charlie strong, and the revolving door at USC really want that title.
Until USC gets over the whole "USC man" thing, they're going to be screwed. Only so many former assistants they can keep hiring, but the right coach can almost run CFB with the amount of talent and little competition in their region. Imagine a coach like Carroll that can actually coach Xs and Os as well as recruit local LA talent. Led is just an idiot who won early with Sabans kids and then couldn't get out of his own way with ridiculous talent he has at his disposal yearly

That's all true. But there is also a culture that surrounds USC that will make "football first" difficult to achieve with many of the kids they bring in. You don't have these same distractions in Tuscaloosa, Austin or Columbus.

Carroll had outrageous talent, but also achieved what he did through questionable recruiting tactics and rampant PED use. It if fair to argue he could not have done what he did to win the NC without doing what he did to bring the program down.

Agreed on the "football first" issues. But with the amount of talent that Petey stockpiled, yes I would say that they would've still be as dominant. Those USC rosters were littered with NFL talent, almost reminiscent of DA U glory days. Yes both had recruiting issues, but I would also argue that most of the local talent from each school would've still attended those schools, IMO
