2018 tOSU Recruiting Discussion

Something tells me there may be a few less spots in the class than earlier thought. That’s just a wild guess but maybe one or two players thought to be early departures may not have played like a top 2 rounder and may stay? Hmmm.

I don't think that would matter, if a kid wants to leave and thinks and he is good enough to earn a paycheck, where we or analyst project him getting drafted won't matter much(I.e. Jalin Marshall). Like @buckeyebri said, numbers will be the same regardless

Nothing against the Baldwin offer, but if your going to offer him it seems like there ought to be some Ohio kids as much if not more deserving of an offer. I always wondered what happened to the Armstrong kid from Shelby.

Armstrong retracted his commitment to Minnesota, so he's probably looking for better things. I don't know how many kids want to come in to Columbus and compete with that stable, though, with Jones still being up in the air, as well. It's a tough balance.

I've not seen him play much, but the QB for Mentor might be interested in coming to Ohio State on some kind of limited basis (preferred walk-on). Tadas Tatarunas. 6-4 or so. Mentor already does all that high percentage, quick outs stuff that everyone in college football does.

We have 3 kick butt QBs still on the roster not named Barrett with multiple years of eligibility left. As long as we keep getting great linemen and skill players, we'll be fine. Jones should also see that benefit.

If Burrow transfers you are starting spring ball next year with only 2 QB's on the entire roster, neither of which has ever started a game. One of which has never taken a snap in a college football game.

They must land a QB in the 2018 class

If Burrow transfers I'll be seriously unhappy. He's the best QB on the roster other than JT and I don't care about someone's arm strength. It takes a lot more than that to run the OSU offense.
I loved what Burrow showed last year when he was in. Good arm, good legs and seemed to have a good command of the team. Hate to see any of the 3 leave.

THE HURRY UP: DEFENSIVE END COMMIT BRENTON COX VISITS GEORGIA WHILE OHIO STATE LANDS WALK-ON DEFENSIVE TACKLE ZAID HAMDAN

ADDING TO THE RUSHMEN

Ohio State landed a commitment along the defensive front on Sunday afternoon when Mason two-star defensive tackle Zaid Hamdan accepted a preferred walk-on offer from Johnson and assistant director of player personnel Eron Hodges.

I know there's not been a lot of positivity as of late with this recruiting class, with current commits looking around (Emory Jones, Cox) and big names falling off (Parsons, Tyreke Smith, Cook, etc), but it's time to give this class another shot...

QB Emory Jones
RB Brian Snead
RB Master Teague
RB/WR Jaelen Gill
WR L'Christian Smith
WR Kamryn Babb
TE Jeremy Ruckert
OT Max Wray

OT
Jackson Carman
OT Cade Mays/Walker Culver/Nicholas Petit-Frere/Rasheed Walker
C/DT Matthew Jones
DE Tyreke Smith/Andrew Chatfield
DE Jayson Oweh
DT Taron Vincent
DT Antwuan Jackson
DT Tommy Togiai

LB Teradja Mitchell
LB Dallas Gant
LB
K'Vaughan Pope
LB
Solomon Tuliaupupu/Palaie Gaoteote
CB Sevyn Banks
CB/S Tyreke Johnson

S/CB Jaiden Woodbey
S Josh Proctor

S Marcus Hooker

25 man class. Thinking we keep both Emory and Cox, as Urban has yet to lose a major verbal commitment late by my count (T.Johnson, Elliott, Weber, T.Gibson, Dobbins)

Flipping season is going to be in full-swing here soon once the regular season is finished and pink slips start flying. I think things will start looking more positive around that time, as few use the spatula as well and often as Urban

Still a long way to go... buckle up y'all
