2018 tOSU Recruiting Discussion

Trying to figure out exactly who is visiting this weekend......looks like a lot more than I realized. I don't think the Official/Unofficial Visitor forum is accurate is it? I know that must be hard to keep up with!

The BP Recruiting Team is kick ass.

Just thought there were a few guys coming in this weekend that weren't posted. Maybe I am reading it wrong or there were last minute surprises.

The spring visits are usually in flux and tough to track (much more than the regular season visits) but as @Krenzelicious said, if you see any changes please let us know and we can get it updated.

Ohio State is now at a 98.10 composite ranking on the 247Sports site for the 2018 class. Unfreaking real and this after having the highest composite ranking in the history of rankings with the 2017 class.
Well, hopefully we don't bring the class down by getting the verbal and eventual signature of the top ranked kicker in the class.

I'll be shocked if this class has less than 5 for the OL with 3 being OT. And that's in addition to someone like Mathew Jones who could project to either side.

Jamarco is gone after this year and we literally have zero proven depth behind him. That's a scary situation. We have a loaded QB room but can we protect them? If I was E Jones I'd be sure to do my due diligence and look for plan B as well. And, is Coach Stud a proven comoddity? Ask me at the end of this season.

Early in Urbs tenure we had some bleak possible outcomes with the OL due to the Walrus leaving the cupboard bare. Thankfully 2 things happened: Coach Ed performed miracles and we went on an amazingly long streak with little to no injuries. It can't be understated how fortunate the staff was for this. Without those 2 things, Urb easily has 50% more losses at tOSU.

That's a glass half full post if I ever saw one. :io::io:
Hey I'm an optimist normally! Urb has said same thing lately. "We can't afford any more misses in OL recruiting"

I have confidence Coach Stud will show his chops- it's just unproven yet. And the lack of injuries wasn't pure luck. Things like the 2,000 rep club and Coach Mick's whole staff gets a lot of credit. But fact remains, we were lucky we never had major injuries to the line during Urbs tenure. I mean, have you watched the clips of Knox in the Clemson game? Kid could still turn into something solid but at that moment in a playoff game, he was the best option. That's crazy considering how elite of a level Urb recruits at.

Edit: Michael Jordan starting as a true Frosh was nuts and for the 2nd time in 3 classes we have an offer out to a JUCO O Lineman. That speaks volumes as well.

Biggest Need: Offensive Tackle

Top Targets: Jackson Carman, William Barnes, Rasheed Walker, Jaelyn Duncan

Notes: Starting left tackle Jamarco Jones is gone after the 2017 season, but in the immediate future it should be OK. True freshman Michael Jordan could bounce back out to tackle after this season, and starting right tackle Isaiah Prince has two more years, but there are no sure answers behind them. Carman, a five-star and the No. 4 overall player in the 2018 class, is priority No. 1 for the Buckeyes regardless of position, although he did recently name Clemson his favorite.
