tOSU Recruiting Discussion

Can someone who pays more attention to this than me tell us how many times in the last ten years we’ve lost a RB recruit and come out ahead on the deal? To my recollection, that seems to happen with some frequency.

Cam Akers for JK Dobbins most recently. I am sure there are many others. Derek Greene comes to mind.

Not pure RBs, but tOSU had a commitment from Hubbard, OH ATH, George Hill, he flipped to PItt and we ended up getting Demorrio McCall

I forget the exact year but my all time favorite was Cooper losing out on the two in state 5* offensive tackles (Munoz and the music lover...Hall?) and settling for Alex Stepanovich and Will Smith.

The two tackles never did anything. Stepanovich was an All B1G/All American type who played in the NFL for a while kind of stud and Will Smith was one of the best players to ever walk into the WHAC.

another one more recent was the little love triangle between LJ Scott, Damien Harris and Mike Weber (Bama, Sparty, and tOSU). Can't remember who committed 1st to who and when but remember a lot of swapping throughout the recruiting process. If I remember correctly, we could have ended up with LJ if we wanted but the staff backed off. Not sure if he ever committed tho before ultimately choosing MSU. Like the guy we ended up with none the less.

I don't think Will Smith had anything to do with Munoz and Hall giving us the bird.

Shane Olivea might have.
