tOSU Recruiting Discussion

Nothing but class kid. Wish the best wherever he goes(though of course I want him in S&G)

This young man would swing the Buckeyes' class from mediocre to distinctly above average.

That said, I trust he'll ignore my wishes and those of all other fans (Buckeye and otherwise) and decide as he feels best for himself and his family.
The fact that you think OSU having a top 10 class, in a possible "down year" for recruiting, shows the unreal expectations fans have on the team. Losing a blow out game to an average B1G team, going through a national coaching saga/embarrassment leading to a coach fired right before the season, HC health problems all season, legendary HC retiring and passing the baton to an OC with no HC experience, and through all of that still able to end with a top 10 class is nothing short of amazing. And nothing is mediocre or average about this class. Wilson, Miller, Potter, Stover, William's, Battle, Eichenberg, and hopefully Harrison could be players that keep the program moving at a high rate.

Regardless of where Harrison ends up, the difference between how he’s handled his recruitment vs a certain recent, also highly rated, Ohio recruit is stark. Can’t help but be impressed.

As others have said, i'm impressed with how he has handled it. With that said, I can't help but think he is doing it with no ceremony to avoid the "backlash". He learned from Lebrons "decision". If he picks Ohio State, it will be great but I'm not feeling it.

No doubt. Ranking number 9 nationally, as opposed to between 2 and 5, constitutes a "down year" only if one has the most elevated expectations of one's team.

I have pretty elevated expectations. I doubt I'm alone here.

In no world is a class with 3 5-stars merely "above average." That is tied for 2nd best (# of 5-stars) in the Urban era.

Also, this team is lacking in Tommy Eichenbergs at the moment.

Who are the three 5-stars? I see Garrett and Harry, who are without question 5-stars. No others.
I'm sorry your schtick has prevented you from counting the three listed in your own statement. Jordan Battle also is one heck of a 4 star if they can keep him, which is looking far more possible these days

What constitutes a "mediocre" or "average" class takes perspective and experience following recruiting...this is far from a "mediocre" class, with or without Harrison. We have some outstanding players committed. That being said, securing Harrison would most definitely elevate this class and I hope to have him on board.
Another thing to note... we are third in average player rating.

That's what I look at. I don't care about numbers I look at quality.

Yeah, if my son wanted to go to Michigan (which would NOT HAPPEN), I’d have him handle his recruitment this exact same way to avoid the backlash.

Zach has handled every step of this process in this fashion. Unless this is your first time reading up on his approach to things there's no reason to be guessing like this to protect against heartbreak.

He would have done it with this little fanfare if psu/um (or osu) fired their entire staff this December.

He has handled it like this from the beginning, but if you think from the beginning that you might want to go out of state, it seems like a wise way to handle the recruitment. I just think it looks unlikely that we get him and the quiet announcement did nothing to make me change that. Sorry if that should have been in the yearly discussion rather than trying to read tea leaves in the recruits thread itself.

It’s absolutely consistent with the way he’s handled his recruitment. It also happens to be consistent (hopefully coincidentally) with how an Ohio recruit should handle leaving the state. Low key.
