2020 tOSU Recruiting Discussion

Dobbins
Weber
Zeke
Samuel
Los
Boom
Saine
Beanie
Pittman
Clarett

Yeah... not exactly lights out. And, that's just off the top of my head, there were plenty of other RBs on the roster... and .. some of them were even highly rated themselves, even if they didn't pan out (Brionte Dunn, for example)
And Tony is responsible for none of them... my point is other than Dobbins he hasn't exactly lit it up.

Hope he comes through on Robinson.

Yep lets fire Tony...

what stud RB coach we replacing him with?

(might i mention Drayton almost cost us Weber and it was Tony who helped save that so Weber & Dobbins are his)

No, we landed Weber and then Drayton left. Literally a day or two after Weber signed.

I'm not saying fire the guy but just that he's not exactly killing it recruiting wise. His group has been productive regardless but imagine what he could do with someone like Robinson.

I don't care about this discussion particularly, but to be fair what you said is true. But realize it is also true that Weber was very hurt by Drayton leaving so soon after his decision and then all but flipped to tSUN except for the efforts of Tony and the remaining staff. How much of a role Tony played in that vs Urban I'm not sure anyone here knows enough to say unless it's in print from any previous interviews with Weber.

I was always under the impression that Zeke had as much to do with keeping Weber in the fold as anyone. Wasn't the story that Zeke told him he would be gone after'15 and Weber would be the man?

The way I understood AC recruiting @ OSU was that they target more regionally, not neccessarily by position. I'm sure they do target kids in their specific position group (Hartline killing it with WR's), but I also think it is a smarter strategy to appoint a region instead of a position in case of coaching staff turnover. This helps avoid a specific position of weakness if one recruiter may not be as solid. I don't follow it as closely to guage how many specific kids he has brought in but that list above isn't too shabby with various different position groups represented.

So Ohio State's recruiting in 2020 is pretty good huh?
Always looking for a new way to spin how well recruiting is going. so thanks for asking - and here is why Robinson is such an intriguing prospect.

IF we land Robinson, from the three classes of 18, 19 and 20 alone here is what we would have on the roster (as ranked in their respective classes):

QB - #1 Dual, #2 Pro
RB - #4 RB, #2 APB (also #11 RB)
TE - #2
WR - #1, #2 (Plus 4 more ranked in the top 20)
LINE - #1 OT, #1 OT, #9 OT, #1 C, #1 C, #2 C, #7 G

Who needs a Defense?

While I am at it, and since Bijan is looking at us and Tehas, here are the recruits for the line he would be running behind for the Longhorns from those same three classes (I am only looking at players ranked #10 or higher).

#4 C, #8 OT, #10 G, #10 OT

If I went with OL rated #2 or higher OSU would have 5 recruits and Texas zero.

Of course, as I am learning from the Michigan board, 3 > 5 when evaluating talent.
