2020 tOSU Recruiting Discussion

Just to think about, scUM is 2nd in B1G recruiting, but there is such a talent gap. Cameron Martinez is a 3star who is TSUN's POY, and he barely paid attention to scUM. OSU "settled" on 3star Miyan William's who could absolutely be a stud in this offense. Mitchell Melton is a 3star who had 20 sacks playing in the hardest division in MD. I didnt even take the easy route and talk about the highly rated players, because the "lower rated" players are still so crazy talented and I believe can also make a difference. Talent on talent on talent to go with some of the best coaching in CFB, and there's just a major chasm between scUM and OSU and that's not wearing scarlet colored glasses

Kiner has OSU on top now. They aren't getting anybody we don't want from Ohio. Matter of fact we could snag 2-3 of the top players from TSUN in 21.

Zone will be absolutely loaded next year as all four WR commits in the 2020 class are in the top 15 at their position: Fleming (#1), Smith-Njigba (#7), Sott (#11), and Cooper (#15).
A possible: depth chart

X #1 Wilson, #13 Williams, #1 Fleming

Z #54 Olave, #13 Babb, #3 Smith-Njigba

H-B #3 Gill (ranking = all-purpose back)

With #11 Scott, #15 Cooper, #33 Harris, #NR Gardiner also on the roster.

A guy that's been injured that has all the talent in the world is Babb. The B1G better pray that he doesn't come back and reach the potential I think he has. Babb,Williams,Olave,Wilson and the true freshmen quartet...Wow!!! That would be something special.

I struggle with using composite rankings when scout is dead and ESPN doesn't really have a legitimate recruiting service.

I'm starting to follow recruiting closer with all the success we're having with it. Could you bring me quickly up to speed on this?

Are Rivals and 24/7 the only 'legitimate' services going these days?
What happened to Scout?
What is ESPN's legitimacy issue?

I'll start with saying, "You can't be serious". Their rankings now appear to be behind a paywall, but when they were open to all nearly everyone in their top 100 was from the southeast, aka SEC country. I remember one time when they had a grand total of two kids from Ohio in their top 100...two. Precisely why their rankings usually vary wildly from everyone else's...

Yes, only those 2.

Scout was bought by a terrible company that ran it into the ground. This happened twice and it now does not exist and was ironically rolled into 24/7. The irony there is many of those 24/7 sites were publications that fled Scout to do their own thing (particularly revenue wise), and then banded together as an upstart 24/7 network took shape. Then when Scout imploded for good, 24/7 absorbed many of the networks. For instance, Bucknuts left to become independent, OSU Scout brought in BSB (after a truly spectacular year or so of Bob L vs OSU-homers). Bucknuts teamed up with 24/7, Scout tanked, and 24/7 absorbed OSU Scout (and Bill Greene).

I'm a year or two out of the loop on their company structure, but about 2 years ago, ESPN did not have regional recruiting teams. The volume of players is staggering, to the point that plenty of good guys go unnoticed (or tagged as players to watch, but they get overlooked by colleges too so the manpower is spent on the actual power 5 recruits).
