2021 tOSU Recruiting Discussion

What would possess a 5* QB to pick Hairball at this point?
Until proven otherwise, I’m going to operate under the assumption that 5-star QB commits to Michigan don’t even really count.

The “I became great the moment I became a Michigan Man,” getting our butts kicked by Ohio State is just an illusion, I think we have better talent than Ohio State, “I’m the most NFL-ready QB in this draft” culture problems that plague the program seem to strike the QB position particularly hard.

That and they turn 5-star WRs into sixth round draft picks.

You know, as much we make fun of him because — why wouldn’t you — but their passing game was beginning to make strides in the latter portion of the season and was also able to look good because Hafley literally just didn’t care about it. I think Patterson would have actually had a good season in ‘20 under Gattis again but hilariously enough it won’t happen either way since they’re deleting football from the school or something.

Hopefully McCaffery doesn’t have much lingering brain damage from that UW game. M

Anyway, if you had to choose between taking only one of Davis Jr or Davies who would you take and why? I get the answer is yes, but still.

I know Davies opens a door to a big time SoCal feeder school, but Monroeville has been good to Ohio State as well. Plus the fact that Davis Jr. is a total badass. And yeah, noone here wants to see him in (un)Happy Valley.

It may not be Mater Dei, but Saguaro, where Burke is from, is nothing to shake a stick at. Great program with some top end talent year after year.

Absolutely, Saguaro has produced plenty of prospects that I wish would have ended up in Columbus. Seems like AZ in general is producing more talent lately, so getting Miller last cycle and Burke in 2021 is a nice inroad. As to debates on Davis Jr or Davies, I think both are in if they want in. Not sure how those numbers work out after the unexpected commits from Dunn and Burke though...might be a decommit if that happens, as I don't think the numbers at the Inn add up in that scenario...8 DB's would be excessive unless the staff sees some of them at other positions (i.e., Jaylen Johnson at LB or Dunn at WR).
