2021 tOSU Recruiting Discussion

It seems likely that one of these two scenarios plays out:

Donovan Edwards commits to Ohio State :: Corey Kiner commits to Michigan

Donovan Edwards commits to Michigan :: Corey Kiner commits to Ohio State

with the possibility of swapping who commits first in either case.

They both have split crystal ball predictions right now with Michigan having a higher percentage for both, but it seems highly unlikely they land both, assuming they are even the school pushing the recruitment for either.

Birm is on record saying Edwards is #1 on the OSU board, and it would be quite the unique scenario, and the preferred one based on Birm’s reporting, for OSU to land the #1 RB in Michigan while UM lands the #1 RB in Ohio.

And if flipped, it still makes perfect sense and results in a good outcome for OSU.

This is again assuming Michigan isn’t capable of landing them both, which as recruiting assumptions go, is about as solid as they get.

Someone should get in Kiner’s ear about the virtues of ND for an even more desirable outcome.

Final note, unleashing Kerry Coombs back into Michigan can’t hurt with the pursuit of Edwards.

What the heck can kiner even see in ttun and hairball? Gotta question anyone's decision making abilities who would choose them over just about ANYONE else

said it many times...if a kid goes up there, talks to players, sees the culture, meets the coach and comes away thinking "yep. That is for me.", then it's probably best for all involved that he never came to OSU.

Who was the last one that had offers from both and came back to hurt OSU? Perry in 2003?

Honestly... yes.

They are done and won't be competitive for the foreseeable future. Anyone considering them isn't very bright.
Wonder how much interest is really there as opposed to putting tOSU on notice that they have to be serious about playing their hand.

People seem to think, based on what insiders seem to think, that Kiner has a predilection for Michigan.

Additionally, on his podcast Birm speculated that Edwards “going quiet” on his recruitment could be an indication that he doesn’t want it to be well known in Michigan how seriously he is considering Ohio State.

Birm has said that Edwards is the clear #1 RB on the board. It’s clear what the preferred outcome is based on the staff’s preference.

It’s also clear they need two in the class, which is where things get interesting. They managed to pull two top QBs in the 2020 class, we’ll see what they can manage with RBs in 2021.

It just feels like since there is an apparent preference for Michigan in the first place, if OSU pulls in another player ahead of him, it will push Kiner to Michigan to be their #1 back.

I would love it if Ohio State landed Edwards and Michigan ended up with no solid recruits, so we’ll see how things shake out.

I’m confused why Birm would think Edwards is quiet and maybe an OSU lean. His teammate, Makari Page, was an OSU lean at one point until we backed off and he committed to Michigan. Since then, Edwards seems like he’s been more openly favoring Michigan.
