2023 tOSU Recruiting Discussion

Uiagalelei’s name should be familiar for those who follow college football, as he is the younger brother to Clemson quarterback DJ Uiagalelei. The Buckeyes targeted the QB, but he spurned them in favor of the Tigers. Clemson has yet to offer the younger brother, but expect them to enter the race sooner than later and the relationship could make them immediate front-runners.

Do not be mistaken, it’s not “other top schools.” It’s actually just that one school.

Compared to anyone not named Alabama, where is OSU lacking depth?

But the thing is, yes it's just the one team, but it's a team that since Saban has gotten there, he's won 6 NCs, OSU has 1! So yes, we may have less talent than 1(maybe 2) team, but that 1 team looks on a completely other level than us. And we keep pumping our chests out saying that we're right there with them. Sports is about what have you done for me lately, and thats why perception is that Clemson is better than us too(until this past year). If we want to beat Bama, and continuously be at a level where it's Bama and OSU in NCs like how they were with Clemson, than a kid we led for, for most of the cycle, we shouldn't lose to UK of all places. This is a battle that OSU had/has to win. Idk if Day needs to step in with OL recruiting as well, but come on, we need some big ugly OT to keep up with them boys in Tuscaloosa

Comparing Stud's recruiting chops against Hartline's is not fair. How does Stud compare to Jim Bollman or Ed Warriner? I think Stud is still an upgrade.
Yep. I know we’d all like to see 1 or 2 more recruiting wins at OT, but which team would anybody trade tOSU’s 2021 starting OTs for?

They have the talent to physically match up with Bama anywhere on the field. If OSU wants to beat Alabama, they need to prepare well and play well. They did not do that in January. They did that in 2014.

Taylor Decker was the highest rated lineman in OSU’s starting lineup when they manhandled Bama’s front all game. He would have been the 4th highest rated OL in the starting line up in the 2021 game against Bama. Stars only tell half of the story.

You can really tell who’s drinking that Jonestown orange drink a certain insider keeps mixing up and serving.

Once again, the problem isn’t this year or even next. The problem is several years from now when they have no depth at tackle and one of the starters goes down. “We’ve got talent stacked” simply isn’t true at the tackle position. Stud is a pretty good coach, but you have to have actual bodies to coach. Now, maybe he lands Goodwin or another college-ready OT and this is a moot point. That said, only bringing in Wagner this year is a disaster waiting to happen (see CB recruiting the three years previous to this).

And yes, plenty of schools are out-recruiting Ohio State the tackle position outside of Alabama.
