tOSU Transfer Portal Recruiting Discussion

How does Andrade impact Hoak?

Hopefully none. I'm guessing that if Ohio State would have to play either Andrade or Vanatsky very many meaningfull minutes this season, we'll be in ... trouble.

Haha... ok ok...

Right now who's better Hoak with experience or Baldwin?

Baldwin is gone, so why does it even matter now?

Ohio State is (right now) just trying to get the best possible QBs to back up Fields. I'm guessing that (right now) Chugunov probably would be #2 and if we get Hoak, he'd be #3. However, "fall camp" is still months off and a lot can happen/change before 31 Aug 2019 (i.e. the 1st game).

YIPPERS, he's the guy!!!

P.S. Bring back "Coach Pug" too....:gagnam:

Hopefully/ideally all 5 QBs should be competing for the starting job; competion for all positions is a good thing. However, when all is said and done, Fields (who I believe has more talent/ability/upside should win out and be the starter) with Hoak and Chugunov vying for the #2 spot. If Hoak doesn't get it this year, I'd expect him to be 2nd string next year as I would guess that Jack Miller would probably redshirt (i.e. to not waste a year sitting behind Fields).

tOSU has done well with the xfer portal. Since I don't follow the other 125 Div I football programs, kinda hard to tell relatively how well. All I know is that while there are very few 'holes' in the football team, Day & Co seem to be able to assess, offer, and attract key individuals to fill those gaps. Someone will surely do an article on 'the most effective use of the xfer portal' etc. Guard, backup QB, and now RB is a very limited number of uses, so it's not statistically significant. Truly goes back to recruiting, and how well the cupboard is loaded versus having to dip into transfers. Go Bucks!

Just sayin': Oklahoma has had 4 different transfers start games at QB for the last 7 years, i.e. Trevor Knight (2013 - 2014), Baker Mayfield (2015 - 2017), Kyler Murray (2018), and Jalen Hurts (2019); and 2 of them won Heismans and a 3rd finished 2nd in the voting.

Trevor Knight began his career at OU before transferring out to aTm, where he was the starter in 2016 as a grad transfer.

No doubt. Jonah Jackson last year was such an enormous add that paid off in a big way. I feel like Sermon will be the same if he stays healthy. Man did I want us to land Sermon when we recruited him. Glad he finally landed in Columbus.
