tOSU vs. Iowa, Sun 1/12 @ 1:30p ET, CBS

Glad I accidentally looked and saw the score before I watched this on my DVR. Wtf did we get beat by 10 at home today? By Iowa? I realize they are supposedly improved but what a downer after an impressive performance in East Lansing.

That was an unmotivated game. Last 2 games too many turnovers...ridiculous turnovers. Need to sharpen that up to have a run at the season title.
I know it could be said about any team that turnovers will more than likely lead to a loss but I think this statement is magnified by the way this team is built. It is a team that relies on defense to win game and when we give the ball away too much it makes it much tougher to win.

The way this team is built.........make us play a slow, half court game, play zone against us and don't turn it over 15+ x's (limiting our fast break opportunities) and this team can't score enough to win.

And people can say I am full of it but you can have Q's 14-15 points per game and sit it right next to Matta for 40 mins if that is the type of effort and brain-dead basketball we are going to get down the stretch. Or at least do what Matta did for the MSU game: give him 20-25 when the game isn't on the line and yank him for a combo of Loving, Sam and Lenzelle down the stretch. His casualness w/ his TO's was very hard to stomach today. Craft's were uncharacteristic and at least in an attacking manner, trying to do too much. Ross was doing things you are taught not to do when you first pick up a basketball. Really disappointing. Not the loss but the way it happened....and @ home.

Iowa played some great half court basketball, probably the best Ohio State has seen this year. Add on to that Ohio State's transition defense appeared to take the day off and their normal zone shooting woes and you have yesterday's result.

I'm not about to jump on the panic bandwagon (actually, not even close) but Matta and the players need to find something that works to get them playing well on both ends of the court. After the comeback in East Lancing I won't doubt what this team can accomplish, but the question is how consistent can they play at a higher level? During a game and throughout the season.

While I'm not panicking I have believed from the beginning of the season that the lack of offensive production and consistency means that this is not a top 10 team (IMO). I'm not saying it isn't a good team or a difficult team to play but I don't see it on the elite level this season.

all this and the loss to Sparty tells me we should have played some challenging games during preseason just so we could be harder ourselves.
Now we get into tough games and can,t finish.
Go Bucks!

We gave up 84 points..many easy ones for Iowa...

This. More than anything. People can talk all they want about lack of offense and turnovers for OSU, but the defense is supposed to be the strong point of the team, and OSU gives up 84 to Iowa in Columbus? Iowa's a much improved team and all, but 84 in regulation in Columbus is about 24 more than Iowa should top out at.

This was my fault. My wife gave me a hideous buckeye garden gnome for Christmas. Instead of following my first instinct to throw it out, I kept the damn thing. As a result, the following things occurred: Orange Bowl, MSU bball game, Iowa bball game. My apologies to all.

Ross made some mistakes but I don't see how a coach could've seen that coming from Ross and put him on the bench. Outside of 2 minutes he had what, 2 turnovers in 30 minutes? He played well other than a 2-minute stretch, you can't bench your leading scorer just on a hunch he's going to have a couple bad minutes.
