Game Thread tOSU vs. Maryland (Homecoming), Sat 10/10 @ 12p ET, BTN

Well as you've noted, we have some time to "figure it out" thanks to a Charmin soft schedule at the moment. ...hoping for the same type of growth we experienced last year.

The longer we go without losing the better chance we have of getting better.

Once the loss hits (if it does) I think a lot of this team is going to have to find themselves. So I hope it doesn't happen late.

No turnovers and under 50 yards of penalties. That's all I need to see... if we do that we win every game we have remaining

If I had to choose, I would honestly even give those up for a return to a 50% 3rd down conversion rate.

The offense is just as explosive as it was last year, just as dangerous. The longer it stays on the field and runs plays the more the odds go in OSU's favor to score more points.

Normally when people cry about a soft schedule for a P5 team, it's just whining. In our case....I can't really blame anybody who is going to bitch about our schedule when it gets later in the year. We did have a huge advantage that Alabama, Georgia, or ND didn't have. We'll see if it ends up mattering when it comes down to who the 4 best teams are.

It's interesting to look at some schedules after week 5. It appears that Ohio State will play 2 and possibly 3 ranked teams during the regular season. Looking at the LSU schedule I see a maximum of 4 ranked teams on the schedule and possibly only 3. For all of the crowing about schedules the difference isn't nearly as wide as most perceive.

Like when LSU plays Western Kentucky on Oct 24th, or when Alabama plays Charleston Southern and Florida plays Florida Atlantic on Nov 21st.

But we've been able to sleep walk through four and a half games now and luckily we're undefeated. A bunch of teams have played better than us and can't say they're undefeated.

As far as LSU's schedule goes; Mississippi State still seems like a better opponent than anyone OSU has played but LSU's other 3 games (Auburn, Syracuse, Eastern scUM) are all worse than Northern Illinois and/or Virginia Tech.

So, imo, they are getting the same kind of name brand love OSU is getting right now even though they are winning in less than convincing fashion against some really weak competition.
