Game Thread tOSU vs. Maryland (Homecoming), Sat 10/10 @ 12p ET, BTN

I figure it will be a comfortable win with a couple turnovers and some questionable play calls and miscues by Cardale. Buckeye fans will bitch and moan about the offense and talk about which game they're going to lose and someone will call for Beck's job.

Then next week we beat the brakes off PSU and choke them to death with their mascots scarf in front of a [Mark May] ton of recruits who love black uniforms.

After that, we win every game by at least 20 including the playoff and NC.
:urban2: made me LOL

Mark Silverman: We believe BTN will be home of the most nationally relevant games all day on Saturday and all three will feature additional production elements. BTN will go to the Ohio State game early enough to watch the dotting of the “I” in Script Ohio, and also show The Big House early enough so fans can watch the band play “Hail to the Victors.”

These extra elements help showcase why BTN is different than other networks and how we aim to bring more of the collegiate feel to our broadcasts. Our games and schools are national schools that attract students and send alumni all over the country, and we expect to draw a considerable national audiences for our games.

Pre-game news and notes:

1. Ezekiel Elliott now has 2,869 career rushing yards, goods for 12th place at Ohio State. He needs 77 yards to pass Antonio Pittman for 11th place; 83 yards to pass Michael Wiley for 10th place; 131 yards to pas Carlos Snow for 9th place; and 208 yards to pass Pepe Pearson for 8th place.

2. This season, Zeke has 729 yards rushing in 5 games, for an average of 145.8 yards per game. The Buckeye single-season record is 148.2 yards per game set by Eddie George during his Heisman season of 1995 (1,927 yards in 13 games).

3. This season, Zeke has 729 yards rushing on 100 carries, for an average of 7.29 per carry. The single-season record is 7.31 yards per carry set by Carlos Hyde in 2013 (1,521 yards on 208 carries).

4. Michael Thomas has 1,113 career receiving yards at Ohio State. He needs 6 yards to pass Billy Anders for 25th place; 156 yards to pass Reggie Germany for 24th place; 165 yards to pass Buster Tillman for 23rd place; 174 yards to pass Anthony Gonzalez for 22nd place; and 177 yards to pass Brian Stablein for 21st place.

5. Cardale Jones has 1,730 career passing yards, good for 23rd place at Ohio State. He needs 39 yards to pass Bill Long for 22nd place; 50 yards to pass Justin Zwick for 21st place; and 400 yards to pass John Borton for 20th place.

6. Maryland's 2-3 record is deceiving. The Terps' wins came against FCS Richmond (50-21) and 1-3 South Florida (35-17), whose sole win on the season is against an FCS school. By the numbers, Maryland is one of the worst teams in FBS:

109th in total defense (449.4 yards/game)
102nd in rushing defense (199.8 yards/game)
93rd in passing defense (249.6 yards/game)
95th in scoring defense (31.8 points/game)

114th in total offense (332.4 yards/game)
84th in rushing offense (162.6 yards/game)
103rd in passing offense (169.8 yards/game)
99th in scoring offense (23.6 points/game)

127th in interceptions thrown (15; or 3.0 per game)
121st in turnover margin (-9 total; or -1.8/game)

7. If we take out the Terps' win over FCS Richmond and count only their FBS opponents, the numbers become much worse:

116th in total defense (492.8 yards/game)
117th in rushing defense (235.8 yards/game)
99th in passing defense (257.0 yards/game)
104th in scoring defense (34.5 points/game)

125th in total offense (295.8 yards/game)
113th in rushing offense (118.0 yards/game)
100th in passing offense (177.8 yards/game)
122nd in scoring offense (17.0 points/game)

127th in interceptions thrown (14; or 3.5 per game)
125th in turnover margin (-8 total; -2.0/game)

8. Joey Bosa has 39.5 career TFLs, good for 11th place at Ohio State. He needs 1.5 TFLs to tie A.J. Hawk for 10th place; and 3.5 to tie John Simon and Jerome Foster for 8th place.

9. Joey Bosa has 21.5 career sacks, good for 7th place at Ohio State. He needs 0.5 sacks to tie Will Smith for 6th place; 1.0 sacks to tie Vernon Gholston for 5th place; and 1.5 sacks to tie his uncle Eric Kumerow for 4th place.

10. Last week, Braxton Miller (3,204 yards) passed Carlos Hyde (3,198 yards) and Keith Byars (3,200 yards) to become 5th in career rushing yards at Ohio State. Next up for Braxton is Beanie Wells (3,382 yards).

This is actually about what I expect. We've been sleepwalking and we'll start to peak when it matters most. While I expect those miscues today, I also expect them to not cost us at all. Every Urbs interview I see has him with a smirk, it's not that I think this is all a big rope-a-dope, I think our problems have been real, but I think his ease is demonstrative of the fact that he sees it all coming together when it needs to.

Let's say 40ish points today, to their 10-14, but we still come away feeling like there's a ton on which they need to work.

HERE WE GO BUCKEYES, HERE WE GO!!!!

Woke up feeling good this morning and I calling that we're going to work up an Old #6 on em!

This is your week Cardale. Come out and have that game we've been waiting to see. Defense will have a field day today and Zeke will run wild. If the QB play isnt up to par by the end of this one, I'll be very concerned. Let's get it done boys!!

It's all been my fault. I haven't watched a game from start to finish on my couch, since Virginia Tech. That ends today, as do the offensive struggles.

62-6.

O-H!!!!
