Game Thread tOSU vs. Northern Illinois, Sat 9/19 @ 3:30pm ET, ABC/ESPN2

My very quick impressions...

1. Play calling
this makes two weeks in a row that we did everything but GO FORWARD as a offense. The end zones are either north south when facing a team and last time I checked the quickest way to your destination is STRAIGHT. Where is the throwing game at? The only throws we make are swing passes and those shitty touch passes. We seriously need a sweep toss quota for games because its beyond wore out. Something has appeared off from the Hawaiian game on and myself personally knew something was very wrong (didn't feel it was the short week). To this moment I cant put my finger on it other than the play calling has been drastically predictable and when we have a chance to make a play we miss wide open players with short throws or throws that sail oddly overhead.

2. Zeke and the Oline. Yes everyone is saying "run zeke" thats all we need ... well we have been and while its our best option its just not what it was last year whatsoever. Its two pronged to me first I think Zeke has gotten a little bigger muscle wise and he just doesnt seem as quick hitting the holes as fast. Two the middle offensive line is just not getting it done at all with numerous holdings, false starts, high snaps, and lack of any surge up front has been amazingly stunning.

3. Wideouts
We have running backs posing as wide outs but really dont have a lot of players making any difference right now. Very disappointed in Marshall and Smith they have been non existent.

4. Personnel
where the shit was Miller and Samuel all game? This offense to me has a issue with identity. When we didnt have a identity last time what did we do? Put Braxton under center and ran zone read all day to 300-400 yards a game. If you are struggling for plays then why the fuck is your best player sitting on the sideline.

I wouldn't have been opposed to putting braxton in at qb all game only to run the ball down their throat. Yet braxton is no where near the ball. What a crime that he had like 2-34th touches.

Right now this is 2012 without Braxton which is why we blow on offense.

Why are tOSU fans such spoiled bitches?
Why do tOSU fans act like a win is a loss?
Why is it that despite a loss early in the 2014 season, tOSU went on to curb stomp Wisky, Bama, and Oregon, yet Buckeye fans still act like anything less than a perfect game is...how do I phrase this...an "embarrassment", "pathetic", or "fire [insert offensive coach here]"?

It's so fucking tiresome. This game was a let down, for sure, but a win is a mother fucking win last time I checked. If you've lost faith, fuck yourself, jump off a bridge, or root for some other team. But whatever you do, please quit posting because I don't really feel like dealing with your negative bull[Mark May] when your entire attitude will flip when tOSU repeats as UNDISPUTED NATIONAL FUCKING CHAMPIONS
To clarify, I wasn't talking directly to anyone. Just wanted to let everyone know that a gritty win is still a win. A loss to a 7-5 (or whatever) VaTech didn't stop anything last year so a win sure as shit won't derail the souless freight train.

I think Braxton gets wildcat snaps with Cardale because Cardale isn't a dynamic/homerun runner like Barrett and Braxton are. Braxton also runs tempo better than Cardale. When Barrett is in the weaknesses of Cardale that Braxton can cover don't really apply to Barrett. Barrett is a good runner, might not be as fast as Braxton but he is close enough. Barrett runs tempo best on the team that we have seen. Braxton is just a WR and jet sweeps when Barrett is in the game. The idea of a Cardale/Braxton combo is truly more dynamic in theory than Barrett, because of Cardale arm strength and size for short yardage.

I think there's room for both complaining and optimism. There's a lot to be disappointed with from today's game. There's plenty of room for opinions about what should be done going forward. Making pessimistic predictions about what the Buckeyes will or will not be able to accomplish going forward though? Cut that the fuck out. Didn't we learn our lesson about that last season?

You can blow sunshine up people's ass all you want and yeah we had a loss at this point last year and today we won, but bottom line is this offense is not where it should be with the talent that it possesses. Oline, play calling, QB, route running, penalties, take your pick but something is amiss here.

Pick a QB, JT is my vote, and commit to them. Get an offensive mind set and game plan for who we are playing. Quit the cute fucking calls, because they aren't working. Find the tight end and an intermediate passing game. Rolling the pocket to the right sucked ass today, can our QBs step up in the pocket and find the 4-6 yd check in the middle. And for fucks sake when you need 3-4 yds on 3rd down then run a 5 yd route, not a 2 yd route.

Of course it's not where we'd like it to be. New offensive coordinator(s), new WR's, 3rd game of the season, etc. I'm not blowing anything up anyone's ass. I'm just preaching to have some faith in the coach that won a title a year earlier than anyone thought possible. I'm not saying we shouldn't be upset. I'm just saying I'm not. I've seen this movie before and it ends in absolute destruction for our opponents and words like "embarrassing", "pathetic", and the like are far more embarrassing than the product on the field.

You're Goddamn right I am. This will get figured out. Best coaching staff in America, best roster in America. And when it gets figured out, and the defense gets some help...

I'm not gonna sit here and say today's game was anything but disappointing. It was. It was also a win and a game nobody is going to remember in November. This is college football.

This I can wholeheartedly agree with, and I/we know you weren't directing your comments to anyone in particular.

You can still fuck off, though...
