Game Thread tOSU vs. Northern Illinois, Sat 9/19 @ 3:30pm ET, ABC/ESPN2

After week two last year nobody was saying Devin Smith was what made the offense tick. The coaches have shown they have the ability to get the most out of WRs as the season and their careers progress.
Yeah, but let's face it, we fans only remember the last three games of last season and in those games Smith and Cardale seemed - note word choice here - seemed to make a difference in how the bad guys played defense. I'm not a fuh ball coach, jus' sayin' that's what I think I saw.

It's always been a big pet peeve of mine...going back to playing in HS and hearing old men talking about what 'we' should do.

I don't even use 'we' to refer to the current teams at the schools I played for.

But really I was using it to underscore a point about what actually affects the team is probably very different from what affects us as fans.

I honestly don't understand why this particular subject becomes such an issue. I mean I don't expect a championship ring to arrive in the mail just because I said "Come on defense we need a stop right here!" against Alabama during the Sugar Bowl. Of course I'm not the kind of fan that thinks it's their job to shut up and win me championships either.

Seriously, though, maybe this is the wrong thread, but what I really hope happens is that Ohio State wins less and less convincingly each week (but still wins each week). The week before they play Michigan State they barely beat Illinois - they look REALLY bad, winning some weird score like 22-19 or something. Then they beat Michigan State maybe 6-3 or something terrible. But then they blow out Michigan a million to zero. But then they win the CCG in another ugly game.

I'm with you with the exception of alumni. (Which I am not) I hear it a lot from pro sports fans and it irks me.

I love game day. I love 3:30 kickoffs even more. I like staying awake just long enough to be able to sleep through that one show on secpn.

HAPPY GAME DAY BUCKEYE FANS!!!
I despise 3:30 kickoffs. I suppose they're fine if you have your Saturday wide open for non-stop football viewing (I also love going to games that are 3:30 as well for extra tailgating time), but if you have shit you gotta do it fucks your day up. Then more specifically this week there are a couple of good 3:30 games that we'll only be able to catch a few minutes of during timeouts. ND @ GT and Auburn @ LSU.

I love them as I work nights. Great slate of games though today all at 330 which sucks nuts. Will stream on computer next to tv while Buckeyes on the big screen. That said, O-H!!!

Don't worry I'll have updates in the week 3 games thread. Probably won't spend much time on the osu game unless things go very poorly inbsouth bend. In which case I'll prolly throw the remote through the tv and watch some lifetime movies.

2. Braxton Miller now has 3,173 career rushing yards, good for 7th place at Ohio State. Brax needs 26 yards to move into 6th place (Carlos Hyde); and 28 yards to move into 5th place (Keith Byars).

3. Cardale Jones now has 1,161 career passing yards at Ohio State. He needs 100 yards to move into 25th place (Pandel Savic); 113 yards to move into 24th place (Rod Gerald); and 178 yards to move into 23rd place (Greg Hare).

4. Michael Thomas needs 81 yards receiving to reach the 1,000-yard mark for his Buckeye career.

5. Joey Bosa has 21.0 career sacks, good for 7th place. He needs 1.0 sack to tie Will Smith for 6th place; 1.5 sacks to tie Vernon Gholston for 5th place; and 2.0 sacks to tie his uncle Eric Kumerow for 4th place.

6. Ohio State has a record of 32-1-0 against teams currently in the MAC. The Buckeyes only loss came to Akron back in September of '94 ... that's 1894.
