Game Thread tOSU vs. Western M*ch*g*n, Sep 26 2015 @ 3:30 ET, ABC/ESPN2

His neck/shoulders look bigger now than when he was in college.

Saw a different game than most. Cardale throws absolute ropes on sideline passes. Hit a lot of intermediate passes. Didn't try to constantly force the ball - JT did. Cardale did pass up some runs to throw on the run when he could have made more yardage with his legs - maybe that's what you do when you want to impress pro scouts. Yeah he missed - under threw three passes, but he also hit on some long balls - hey he's not Daryl Lamonica yet - also doesn't have a 6'4" high jumper going up for the ball the way he did last year. Defense seemed to me to be determined to stop the pass game and to give up yardage on the run until WMU got close to the red zone. Then they stopped most of everything. Samuel's long run was a thing of beauty. Elliott came close a couple of times - had a nice day. Braxton had a miserable day. All in all, the team, especially to OL looked much improved. Would not be surprised if the Bronco QB ends up in the NFL.

We saw the same game then Cinci... I've read a few posts saying Cardale sucked etc. I've been without a doubt the biggest voice for JT on this sight the past two weeks but I really liked what Cardale did as it was exactly as I was hoping for to be honest. I was hoping for a turnover free, non bobbled snaps, and quick decisions and that's what we got (outside of the one deep ball INT). I think As this year unfolds and CJ gets more reps he will learn that when its not there to get what he can with his legs and when he does that he'll be difficult to slow down IMO.

The one slight I have against CJ this past game is that when he throws the deep ball watch him in the pocket... He hardly uses any of his lower body to throw the ball deep and IMO that's why he's short on the deep ball (along with not reading it fast enough). His biggest asset like UM said to CJ is he can throw the ball literally out of the stadium if he wants to so why under throw them? I think it is a easy fix in that all he has to do is gun it out there... It's always best to over throw it anyways if you're going to miss.

My gripe was the play calling a few drives killed themselves. We had 2 (maybe 3 drives) that were moving down the field but were stopped with questionable play calling. One ended in a 3 passes (all Incomplete) and a field goal, and another one we got behind the sticks with a first down long ball that went incomplete. I know it'd be easy to pick up on the tendency but I'd like to see more deep passes on 2nd and short plays were we know we can still get 2-4 yards on 3rd down if need be. I hate first down deep passes because then it's 2nd and 10 with a urgency to get a decent chunk of yards.

Watching the replay of the game right now. I hope Urban Meyer plays the speech PJ Fleck said at the beginning of the game where he mentions Ohio State has never won the NC when ranked #1 preseason. He mentions someone is going to knock them off. Hope he ingrains that in their heads so they try to change that statement.
