For those of you with any interest in the Tour de France and Lance Armstrong's bid for his record breaking 6th victory, the race, for riders with aspirations of winning The Tour overall, begins tommorow (Friday July 16th). The last forty Kilometers of the stage include two Category 1 climbs (second hardest rating) each about 12 km long and with an average grade of 6+%. The stage ends on a Mountain top eliminating the opportuinity for those riders who crack on the ascent to make up time on the descent.

When they reach the last climb all the big names will be at the front waiting to separate the contenders from the pretenders. With a mountain top finish following this type of climb, we'll have have a much better idea by this time tommorow as to how this Tour de France will unfold.

Lance sent a little message today by attacking and testing his two competitors in the last kilometers of todays stage....

He didnt make up any ground....but he did say....game on.....

It's about time! I've watched every stage so far, and now it's actually gonna get good. Maybe it's just because rooting for LeMond and Armstrong have conditioned me not to give a rat's ass about the green jersey, but it'll be nice to be able to look at the standing and see guys at the top who actually have a chance to win the thing.
