Transfers (official thread of get me out of here!)

ScriptOhio

Everybody is somebody else's weirdo.
Transfers seem to be way up this year, so I thought I'd start a thread to list/comment on miscellaneous transfers.

Ex-OSU Cowboy, UA Wildcat QB Daxx Garman to give Terps a try

Daxx Garman has already been a quarterback in the Pac-12 (Arizona) and Big 12 (Oklahoma State), so now he figures he’ll hit up one more Power Five conference for his final collegiate act.

Thursday afternoon, Maryland announced that the well-traveled quarterback will join the Terrapins football team for his last season of football. As the strong-armed Garman will be a graduate transfer, he’ll be eligible to play immediately in 2015 and, right away, be thrust knee-deep in his new team’s quarterback competition.

.
After weeks worth of speculation, Mike Gundy confirmed in early March that Garman would be transferring… again. He came to OSU after transferring in from Arizona; in high school, he transferred on two separate occasions as well.

Another guy looking for his 3rd school....

Former four-star Vol transferring from Terps as well

In January of this year, D’Andre Payne announced on Twitter that he would be transferring from Tennessee to Maryland. Four months later, it appears the defensive back will be leaving College Park without ever having played a down for the Terps.

While the school has yet to confirm it, Don Markus of the Baltimore Sun is reporting that Payne has decided to leave Randy Edsall‘s football program. According to Markus, Payne will be transferring to an unspecified junior college.

Even if Payne had stayed with the Terps, he wouldn’t have been eligible to play in 2015 as he’d have had to sit out the season to satisfy NCAA transfer rules.

Just guessing: Going to a JC, maybe grades are a problem here.

Terps’ top punter transferring to Vols

Just guessing: Going to a JC, maybe grades are a problem here.

Earlier today we noted that a former Tennessee football player who had transferred to Maryland had decided to transfer out of that Big Ten football program. Now, the Tennessee-Maryland pipeline continues, albeit in reverse.

Citing a UT program source, Wes Rucker ofGoVols247.com was the first to report that Nathan Renfro is leaving the Terps and transferring to the Vols. The move, which has yet to be confirmed by either school, will serve as a homecoming as Renfro hails from the Nashville area.

Given release, QB Andrew Ford to transfer from Hokies

Another day, another FBS player taking his leave of the program in which he started his collegiate playing career.

The latest to see attrition hit its roster is Virginia Tech, with both the Roanoke Times and Newport News Daily Press reporting that Andrew Ford has asked for, and been granted a release from, his Tech scholarship. Ford is looking to transfer to an undetermined location to continue his career.

The fact that senior Michael Brewer and junior Brenden Motley were ahead of the redshirt freshman quarterback on the Hokies’ depth chart likely influenced Ford’s decision.
